  1. Ok........Not sure where to begin For starters make sure and have some help! Packaging is the same as the 23", well done Dennis. To make life easier, unscrew the 8 lag bolts at the base of the crate; the crate will pull straight up. However this didn't happen in my case; I stepped away for a few mins to grab some tools and my helper was feeling like Hercules and started destroying the casing At any rate, from start to finish it took us about 2hrs to get her to the final destination. I CANNOT believe how much stainless steel she comes with!!!!!!!!!! I need to go see my Chiropractor after lifting all the grates. Below are all the photos from the unboxing; enjoy!!! Dennis you are a mad MAN; this thing is beyond anything I could imagine!!!!!! BTY - The last photo is for member 5698K

  3. Too funny!!!! I decided not to cook a hot dog as my first cook Today was my break in day, got her up to 525 buring off all the silicone. I figured I'd let it run for a few more extra hours due to the size. Surprisingly I am not seeing as much white residue as I did with my 23. One more item I've noticed, temperature control is unbelievable. I've been able to bring it up and down by 20deg as easy as my oven. I'll keep you all posted with photos of the first cook. I'm definitely going Hog Wild!!!!

  5. Last evening a friend brought a tasty dessert, coffee mousse and I made a chicken stew with dumplings just for fun. My friend thought I needed this fridge magnet too;) The clan motto is: Fortune Favours the Brave. BTW, it tasted fantastic as a breakfast dessert this morning.

  6. What a crying shame. I went out and hugged my KK just now. I would kiss it, but the cold would make my tongue stick to the tiles.

  11. I use the farmer's market the same way you do, and am also in the Polyface Farm buying club. Joel Salatin and crew are often so good as to write the name of the critter we're eating on the label. Makes us feel one with nature. That said, I have absolutely zero expectations that others should shop, cook, eat, or believe or do anything else that I do. If they ask, I answer.

  13. Six pounds of bacon. Have tried a number of bacon recipes lately, and this is the one I like the best. It's Meathead's Maple Bacon from Amazing Ribs. Have also tried Chris Lilly's from Fire & Smoke, which is similar, and Raichlen's bacon from Project Smoke, which is far too salty. Used the cold smoker with maple chips. Awesome.

  19. I was worried about that to foton. I did quick taps and let weld build up. Once Dennis sends me tiled if I have enough ledt over I will remove everything and inject a high temp sealant in the crack then re tile.

  26. Well today was a hell of a day. Total hours spent in last two days came out to around 16. The cap was the first real problem I ran into . I came up with my own fix that I detail below. If it ends up braking in the future I will make my own mold out of silicone then crack my current top removing the inside piece. I will then put this in the mold along with metal shards and pour in the remaining rutland refractory cement I have left. Bosco sorry I didnt see your post until after I stained them. I dont believe a treatment would have worked as 1 looked brand new and the other looked as if it were sitting in sun for 10 years. I went with a dark red mohagony as I like red and bronze together. As far as the rest goes all of the tiles are now removed. well almost all when I was wiping down outside with damp rag I found 2 that had fine cracks in the but all in all its ready to be re-tiled. I spent another 30 min or so shaping the handle and polishing it up. Still not 100% satisfied. Need to throw in a few pop welds in some gaps and grind away at it again but as of now it will pass. Cap Fix - so as you can see in the previous photo above the crack was very small. The refractory cement is quite sandy and doesnt fill small voids. So the fix was to make the crack bigger. Yes I know dumba** idea but I am glad I did. When grinding out the crack I managed to hit part of the metal bracket that sits inside the mold. This led to another idea. I ground away all cement until I could get access to alot of the metal. I then used flat metal bar and tack welded them to the rod in the center. I then tack welded them to the metal frame that sits within the mold. I connected both strips together with small metal rods. I then filled up the crack and the metal brace I made with cement to match the circular cut out in the top. Looks much better but still not to my standards Is this normal or should it be cleaned somehow I need to get a small brush to go between the boards and do the under side Here is how I removed each tile. I used a diamond tip dremel tool (well it had a diamond tip for the first 10 min but after that it was just sharp metal) I then hammered out the center of each tile. I realized that the more broken the tile the easier to remove so the fix for the hammer damage was to cause more hammer damage Added some more cement in areas as I had it already mixed and figured why not

  27. someone else just sent the tiles and the bolt back to Dennis and he made them a new cap. Perhaps you should do the same. As for the side tables, you should buy a teak wood treatment kit. Wilburpan on this site recommended a brand. The side tables came out beautiful, do not use stain! Patience as this is a fun project and a smoking deal once all fixed up. Dennis is your life line here and will answer everything. Slow and steady and you are going to have one hell of a gem when it is all finished!

  28. I suspect there might be a very high temperature adhesive that might fuse these 2 halves back together. Just smearing something surface probably would not work since getting the surface clean enough for whatever to adhere would be unlikely.

  34. Absolutely Tucker. Where you live? Ill be honest I was so excited to get started today that I rarely slept. Sitting around right now drinking some coffee waiting for traffic to die down before I go haul my trailer to my parents place. I honestly have never been so excited to play around with a bbq grill before. I now agree with my wife that I have a problem and I am totally ok with it.

  36. We have a guy a work who is an alpha male all the way. He walked into his local bar to meet his buddies and orders a beer. He looks up at the TV and sees a picture of Miss Jenner all gussied up.......and says to his buddies......"Who is that good looking babe?". All his buddies started cracking up laughing. Our alpha male from work finally realizes who it was and what he said.............he turns around and walks out of the bar leaving his beer untouched. Guess he felt the abuse from his buddies was not worth a cold beer.

  37. I know where they're coming from. We get snow once every 10 years and when we do, it's a nightmare. Even if the roads have ice on them, people drive like they normally do and it looks like a demolition derby. Watch kids on bumper cars and that pretty much sums it up. By the way, the high today is 75.

  39. Looks good. And don't worry most of us has dropped a phone in water before. I actually went swimming with mine for a couple of hours once. It was years ago so I won't claim old age but let's just say alcohol was a factor.

  40. I finally ordered my rotisserie and basket splitter for my KK as a Christmas present from my parents and grandmother. I mostly had to wait until now so I could be sure I would be home when it arrives (as a teacher we travel/visit a lot of family during school breaks). Looking forward to some delicious spins!!!
