  1. Hello! I'm DJM's wife and I'd just like to say that this KK purchase was worth every penny, as he enjoys cooking on it and I enjoy his meals! This week he even stepped up and made up meals ahead on it (see meatloaf that turned out just right) so that weeknights aren't quite as crazy with the kids sports practice schedules! Thank goodness for KK! Maybe someday I won't be intimidated by it and will learn to use it, but for now, this is a neat ride!

  2. Planned for a dinner at noon but when I went out to the ODK there were hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of those Asian Beetles, aka as Stink Bugs. They were all over everything including me. They are a recent addition to the wild life around here. I had to wait until the temp. dropped and the sun went down to do this cook. In the meantime I decided to make some sourdough bread with toasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds. This dough is ready for bed and now for a nap. Baked. Sliced. Now for the squash. Clean out the seeds, etc. and a little butter and maple syrup. Cover with foil back at 425F for an hour or until the pulp is soft. Baked. Cured this large pork chop for 24 hours then washed it out for a few hours, dried it off and left it uncovered in the fridge overnight. Sprinkled with a little granulated garlic, pepper and paprika. On the KK until the internal temp. was 146F Did a quick sear. Done. Plated with twice baked potato, squash and pickled beets. The interior has that pink colour of cured meat. Tastes more like ham than a pork chop.

  3. On the guru, a few people were asking what is so great about tri tip. Not only can it be delicious but.... this happened this weekend with a 10% off coupon I was spending $1.80 per lb for tri tip. I got 10 of them for under $80 (I also picked up milk). I trimmed, seasoned, and vacuum sealed them individually so I know we will be enjoying these for a long while to come. At first it was taking me a while to trim these, by the 10th one it was only taking me a couple of minutes to trim them. I don't think I'll ever get that much practice again!

  4. I want to take minute to express my appreciation for all of your sweet condolences. It means alot to me. Continue to pray for us. I will share this pic with you all, which my baby girl sent it to me justabout 3 weeks ago before she got on the boat for a cruise with her husband. She will be truly missed❤️

  5. I've been wanting to try this cook for a while. while it turned out pretty well (although a little overdone) I don't the results were nearly so good as a reverse seared one! The crust on extreme sear can't be beat! the rotisserie was significantly faster though

  10. This is funny; the first time I had a barbecue for my neighbors they turn out to be vegetarians LOL I did cook a couple of steaks and some wagu hotdogs though, sorry no pictures of them on the grill. Actually this is the first time I’ve had neighbors over to my house since I’ve lived here,(28 years). We really had fun and I’m gonna be doing it a lot more in the future. The food turned out great. KK great! I had more pictures but lost them. I haven’t done any of this kind of cooking since I had had my big green egg over 35 years ago! Everything tasted great. Those mushrooms were especially good.

  11. Fabulous looking meal. I'd love to try any of it but your bread looks especially amazing. I am just dabbling in sourdough bread cooking and am definitely a novice but I hope some day to be turning out "Mac-worthy" loaves.
