  1. Over on the guru it is a “sides” challenge. So I got to thinking about some of my most favorite sides to grill. And they are grilled carrots and ABTs. I saw somewhere that people put fruit in their ABTs and that just sounded fabulous to me. I knew that the next time I made them I wanted to add pineapple. And grilled carrots are a super simple yet awesome side. Here are the nice carrots I picked up and the ingredients I used this was actually my first time using the Tasmanian mountain pepper berries (purple crack) on food. I mistakenly ate a whole pepper berry to just see what it tasted like. I do not recommend eating them plain. Peeled the carrots and they looked so nice and pretty then added all the ingredients. I cover with foil and cook that way until they are tender. I also had some ABTs to prepare. While I went into this knowing that they are not the most appetizing looking side, anyone who has had them knows that they are stupid delicious and always disappear whenever I make them- no matter how many I make. This was just for my family so I only made 12. Here are the ingredients prepped put the carrots on now that the carrots are tender I grilled them for a little char then added back to the liquid with the cover removed to let a little evaporate And my unattractive but oh so good ABTs on my plate with a simple burger. So of course the ABTs were amazing and enhanced by the addition of pineapple glad I tried that. The carrots were amazing normally I put cayenne on them instead of the pepper berries, but this was soooo much better my husband was snatching the left overs odd of my kids’ plates!

  2. My first try and I did bake it in the kitchen oven but you could do it in the KK no problem. How can this turn into... this? It sang to me the whole time I was taking pixs. Can't wait to cut it.

  3. Now that we have totally hijacked MacKenzie's post .............I had one sign in my office, that we took off the shipping crate, to send to Aussie O. The maintenance employees made a stand-up desk out of the KK crate and took it to another building. Just went over there and the other sign is still on the crate/desk......but not for long. It will be in the mail heading south in the next day or so. Too much fun!!!!!! PS - Sorry Mac for the hijack....but you sorta started all this sign stuff

  6. The rest of the story- Add a little English Cheddar, Ivy's Secret recipe from WKEY Farms, are you familiar with that one Tekobo? It was tasty. The crust in particular has and awesome flavour and to think as a kid I cut all crusts off. Here is what was happening as the bread sang to me - It is a beautiful sound.

  9. The Purple crack mix with the brown sugar base Fat Bastard rub was inconclusive. I used 5 peppercorns crushed finely and blended it into the rub and applied. I feel it does well in a sugar base, sweet heat. The next time I will add more to enhance the pepper flavor but, they do pair well together, it's a matter of proportion. On the left side the Purple crack blend was applied and to the right a killer hog rub was on. The ribs didn't pull back as much as I wished but, time wasn't on my side tonite. They were good, no complaints. So don't be dissuaded by the first impression, hey, sometime your best friends might have been ones that didn't meet expectations at first but, they're still around.

  11. Aloha Eddie Mac here are the pictures. The drawers are a little messy but I just wanted to show you how much you can get in there, that one drawer has my cold smoker in it plus my heat gun and a bunch of assorted other parts and fire starters. The middle drawer has a pair of leather gloves for heat and a pair of silicone gloves for heat, a bunch of miscellaneous parts for my rotisserie. The last drawer is pretty empty except for my thermometer. The pull out shells are loaded with accessories the top shelf on the right has my pizza stone and one of the shelves for my KK. The next shelf down as the double bottom drip pan and the other side shelf for my KK. The bottom shelf has a grill grate smoke pot The drip pan that came with my KK and some wood chips. The middle shelves are kind of small they don’t pull out but I have my loofah lighterin one of them. The two shells on the right have all my rotisserie baskets on them I bought all three of them. I also have the rotisserie rod which is on the left side shelf you can see it in the picture. So As you can see it holds a lot. One caution though I designed this cabinet And it’s quite tall. I’m 6 feet tall so it fits me perfect, but anyone shorter it might be a little too tall for them. I hope this answers some of your questions let me know if you have anymore. If you decide to buy a cabinet Dennis is the man to talk to he builds beautiful furniture

  12. Excellent use of the purple crack, Shuley! I just did some roasted carrots last night (in the oven, as I did fire up the grill - insanely windy and cold yesterday!) and I'll remember next time to try them with the PC. btw - spotted the "Better than Bouillon" - their stuff rocks!! I have like 6 different varieties of it in the pantry.

  16. Hi @MacKenzie, interesting to see that cheddar cheese makes it all the way to Nova Scotia from Somerset. No, I am not familiar with that brand although, as you know, I am a big cheese eater. The pack that my friends sent me last week was from a range of artisanal makers. They took the traceability gig really seriously and each cheese was marked with the name of the person who made it. Thank you Stacey, Charlotte, Trisha, Michael and Charlie, your cheese was delicious. I hope Ivy's secret cheddar recipe made your bread super tasty.

  18. Hi guys I'm Erik from Hot Sunny Arizona. I just ordered a Kamado Joe last week and it was supposed to be delivered today but last night I found the Komodo Kamado and totally fell in love with them so I canceled the order. Wow what a piece of art just blew me away. I am a foodie snob and love cooking and it's time to move from my gas grill to a Kamado and really get some great food grilling. I am debating between the 19" tall and the 22" supreme as we are a family of 3 and are from Michigan with no family or friends to entertain. Any suggestions and photos would be greatly appreciated as I'm ready to order NOW. I can't wait To have one of these masterpieces on our patio ASAP.

  23. Thanks. I just pulled the trigger,.....WOW your absolutely right, it's gotta be tamed some how. Definitely a science project in the works, don't want to put that on my corn flakes. I think I bought the air dried because it came in a resalable plastic bag and had some trash in it or better put, { little stems and such }. It had too easy of a crunch between my teeth, it broke apart quite easily so placing them in a peppermill is suspect, {at least for me }. The purle look was there when I spit it out or was that my tongue, not sure. I do believe there are possibilities, I may have to reach a little further than I normally do with things but, it will work. Those presents for Xmas Mac are still going out, except they'll have a warning label attached. For you Aussie, well,if I were inclined to go into a bar with a small bag of these and place a few bets I may walk out with a few bucks in my pocket or a little less hair on my head. Only in Australia. Good luck Tekobo and thanks for the direction... Toney Santa could run his sleigh on a few of these
