  1. Yes, I was very anxious to darken that white inside. Food turned out awesome as usual. The cook must go on no matter the weather!
  2. First Cook In The Snow Well in typical Georgia fashion my first cook was a pork loin in the snow. Woohoo its snowing in Georgia.
  3. Yes, it definitely was a new excitement. I can't wait to fire her up.
  4. Nirvana At Last Well after a few trials and tribulations I finally have a new Gen II Grey KK. In typical fashion Dennis came thru to to make it happen even though things did not go as planned. As I was putting together the new grill I kept finding myself saying, oh way to go Dennis thats a great new improvement. Everyting fit together perfectly. I was a little skeptical of the color however it looks a lot better in person. It looks way too new and clean so I need to cook something on it. No time tonight as I had to unload my new KK and then load up my old one as my friend Victor purchased it from me. He got a hell of a deal and is a proud new KK owner. He's a better cook than I so maybe he will chime in here at some point. He is very excited to start cooking on ceramics. Just a few quick pictures, still have to get the side tables reattached and a new gas option is on the way. Thanks Dennis.
  5. Oh, Actually I guess it continued in a different thread called shipping mistake uncrated OTB in Snellville. Or go here to see it http://atlanta.craigslist.org/eat/hsh/1577623727.html or better yet come by the house and buy it!!
  6. Well I was a benefactor also, one of these new found cookers is coming my way. After the snafu with the last cooker I was supposed to get (see KK in Florida Warehouse) this was a good chance for me to still get an upgraded KK. Dennis was working on a solution and this I believe will work out the best for the both of us. I'm supposed to receive the cooker on Wed so lets hope this one is as advertised. Thanks Dennis for continuing to work on a resolution I look forward to my new KK. Now someone come to Snellville and buy the one in my garage!!
  7. Part of the reason I bought a KK is to show off its beauty. Considering there have been ceramic cookers that have lasted 10 years without being covered that do not have an elastomeric adhesive I don't think there are many issues regarding compromising the integrity of the cooker however if it makes it easier to get the snow or other debris off that would be a good reason to have one. In Ga we get a lot of rain but not much snow so I would never cover mine. The way I see it is its a personal preference however its not a necessity (in my opinion) in any climate.
  8. I don't remember RJ making a base like that. I agree it looks like one of his products but the base is throwing me off. Although I don't know of anyone else (besides Dennis of course) that made a tiled cooker. Interesting.
  9. Thanks and Happy New Year to you too!! Well Dennis made all the changes in a realatively timely manner so there probably aren't too many people that really need to trade up. The cooker still looks and cooks like it did from day one so that is a testament to how well they were made even from the beginning. Only my desire to have the best of the best has drawn me to upgrade. But yes I am very excited to compare all the new features. Having the gas in the back is going to be a big plus and I am excited about the new elastomeric grout and adhesive. My fire box is the very first one made and actually had legs (that I broke off). It does not hang lilke the new ones do so that is going to be nice too. I'm more curious than anything to see how the new lip operates. I will keep you all posted as to my findings. I do have a boston butt in my freezer so that may just have to be my first cook. I will document that for sure. If the cooker arrives in the middle of the week a pork loin or steak may have to break it in first. Happy New Year to all!!!
  10. Its Mine Just got off the phone with Dennis and I made him an offer he couldn't refuse I'm soon to be the proud new owner of this beautiful KK. Been wanting to get the latest version of the KK considering mine is one of the very first ones made, its still a great cooker I just wanted to have all the newest bells and whistles. Thanks Dennis, looking forward to cooking on this nice new cooker.
  11. I think the pizza stone itself acts as a good enough heat deflector, you want the stone to be at maximum temp. and if you use a heat deflector this will inhibit this from happening. I would definatly try without the heat deflector I think you will have better results.
  12. You can easily reach temps of 400 using only gas so you can cook just about anything, especially if you cook direct. I think if you find the right type of charcoal you will forget about the gas and use the charcoal. I know some people even use Kingsford so you could always still go that route. Either way I think you will be much happier as far as a cooking experience with a ceramic grill vs. a steely.
  13. So Dennis, when do you think you will have another supply of charcoal?
  14. No fancy tools needed just use an old paint brush to sweep out the ashes, put a small pan in front of the ash door or in my case just use the top to the ash can.
  15. Well I'm talking a 17-20 hour cook now, and I don't bother with taking the old stuff out unless its not burnt at all. This is the original "good" stuff. The best that has ever been produced by anyone. (The stuff Dennis is trying so hard to get a supplier to replicate). I'm bummed I only have two boxes left, may never see this quality again. Hopefully Dennis will eventually get a supplier to do it right. Then I need some Georgians to come together to get a big shipment.
  16. I too only use it for low and slow, that is why I still have some left from the RJ days. One box actually gets me two cooks. Why hasn't the NakedWhiz chimed in to offer to test this stuff?? Come on Whiz.
  17. Actually Amazon will ship it for free 5-9 day. But its still pretty pricy.
  18. Still have some of the original stuff from RJ however was looking for a good alternative. Noone in the Atlanta Area was interested in a group order from Dennis. Looks like a good one for TheNakedWhiz to check out. I put my address in and it cost $11.00 to ship the 7lb box, total of about $25.00 so its not going to be cheap. Good find though.
  19. Hey I still have one of those old black painted springs so this will be a huge upgrade for me. Thanks Dennis for continuing your commitment to your customers.
  20. Lets just say this used to be a problem.
  21. Home depot sells the gas hoses, if can't find there Northern Tool will have them.
  22. Hey Marcy, I'm in Snellville. Not sure if you are here just to chat and learn about BBQ or if you are interested in a KK. If its the later you are welcome to come by to look at mine. If its the former, welcome and enjoy all the awesome knowledge here.
  23. Now what kind of question is that?
