  1. I have the 19 TT and have cooked 4 Boston Butts on it. It is a great grill/cooker/smoker. Having said that........if the 22 TT was available when I purchased my 19 or if I had to replace the 19, I would go with the 22 in a heartbeat. Mostly for the extra room for ribs, multiple cuts of meat, etc. The 19 can be tight on some of my larger cooks. Agree with the previous comments.....go as big as your space will allow.
  2. Fair warning......... it's only just beginning! "These" people are expensive 😁!!!
  3. @Pequod That would have been the photo (if we took one)............after drinking the 11% beers 😁
  4. Got back late last night from Iowa. Didn't have time to take a photo of Tony's care package for me but it was full of homemade beer and BBQ goodies. We met at the Lion Bridge Brewing Company for the introduction of a new beer. A bunch of Tony's brewing and BBQ buddies were there and stopped by to say hello. Great conversations and great tasting beers!!! Brought Tony's care package into the bar in a Bud Light box, It was fun to hear all his brewer buddies and the server giving him the business, thinking there was Bud Light in the box. Only spent a couple hours together. Looking forward to meeting again. Tony is a very interesting guy!!!!!
  5. My Sister and Mom live in the same town as Tony B. We have been trying to meet up for years. My Sister and her son's fiancée have met Tony before but not me. Two ships passing in the night!!! I would come into town and he would be off at a beer conference somewhere. Tomorrow I finally get to meet the famous Tony B.!!!!! I came into town Sunday to visit Mom, gave Tony a ring and we are meeting tomorrow at his local tavern (all proper Covid rules being followed) for the introduction of a new beer. I can assure you a few KK Forum tall tales and BBQ lies will be told!!!! A quick side story........About 4 years ago we were moving Mom out of her apartment into an assisted living apartment near my sister. My nephew's girlfriend (now fiancée) rode with me in my van while the nephew drove the moving truck. It was the first time I met her and we were making small talk during the hour and half drive. She told me she was a teacher but worked part time at a local brewery/tavern. I happened to mention having a BBQ buddy in her town who was was a big home beer brewer. Mention to her that his name was Tony. She looked at me funny and asked what Tony looked like. I had seen a photo of Tony that he had posted once and did my best to describe him (he looks like a young Tom Selleck). She filled in a few of the gaps of my description and when I agreed, she says.....I know Tony. He comes in with the local brew masters club every month. Talk about a small world!!!! Looking forward to tomorrow.
  6. Nice looking shop also!!!!
  7. I did check it out before I bought the PKGo. Looks like a nice grill but they advertise it mostly as a high temp steak cooker for that BBQ circuit. I'm waiting for @ckreef to get one and post his review 😀
  8. "Freelance work for the government" and she "makes stuff happen" .........license to grill!!!!!!!
  9. @Troble Sounds like she is a female 007 secret agent ?????? Might not be safe to ask any more questions..........................
  10. No....she only has 2 grills 🤣
  11. We switched from summer fun to winter fun yesterday. I have three daughters, two are normal, the middle child has a screw loose! She is a total free spirit. We went snow skiing yesterday. Not the best conditions but still a lot of fun.
  12. I agree! I have a flattop griddle on shore at the marina and will use cast iron griddles on the cookers when out on the water. Hey........one needs to be prepared for any dish the crew may request or they might throw the captain overboard!!!!
  13. Just this past weekend I got my Primo Oval Jr. back from one son-in-law, that never used it, and gave it to another daughter's long time boyfriend. Got to keep it in the family........just in case a need arises 🤣
  14. I didn't see the early announcement but did see the video last week on Facebook and ordered the same day. I was not joking about all the grills I bought over the years trying to find something that worked well on the boat. Each had an advantage but none did everything that I needed. I really do believe the PKGo will do 90% of my cooking needs. Plus I still have the other 6 portable cookers..............that I can bear to part with.......and yes........My name is Jon and I have a problem. 🙃 Going to do my first cook this weekend................before my family finds out about the new grill and has me committed 😬
  15. @tekobo I have to admit that Charles is "good/bad" influence on me depending on how you look at it 😀. I didn't see his post until today ........ So Charles cannot be blamed for this purchase. Like Charles, I have been looking for the perfect camping/boating charcoal grill. One look at the PKGo and there was no choice................... I HAD to have it!!!!!! Now........ what I'm I going to do with the Acorn Jr., the Weber Char-Q, the Woodfire, the Cobb, the Joe Jr. and the Grillerette that I bought for use on the boat????? Seeing that they have all been replaced by the new kid on the block. Maybe if @ckreef "is/was/will be" a bad influence.... I should buy a camper trailer so I can have a home for one of the above grills. The boat will not share the PKGo!!!!!!!! (joke...not happening) Hi, my name is Jon. I have a problem and it is not Charles fault.
  16. Mine arrived yesterday Charles. Had to sneak it into the garage when no one was looking. Told everyone it was for my son-in-law....except for him. He has the big PK grill......but will share this one. A 1/4 steam pan fits nicely under the cooking grate and takes one side of the grill. Perfect barrier for 2 zone cooking. .
  17. When you strap it down....use wide straps and/or pads to spread the pressure. I used thin ratchet straps on a tile model and they compressed the tiles under them. I did not secure the top to the cooker bottom and the latch broke. Be sure to do as suggested above and secure it carefully.
  18. I never really understood or appreciated how much of a sacrifice caregivers make to care for others. I now have the utmost respect and admiration for them. Quick story..... My Mother is 91 years old. She was able to live by herself in Michigan until a couple of years ago, when she started falling. My Sister, who lives in Iowa (by Tony B.), retired and would spend summers with Mom in Michigan and then take her back to Iowa for the winter. Last July, my sister's husband died unexpectedly and she had to go back home to handle everything. I stayed with Mom in Michigan into August and then brought her back to Syracuse for a few months. In mid October, she went back to her home in Michigan and my sister rejoined her. These next comments are not complaints but instead expressions of respect for caregivers. For three months, my life as I knew it.......changed. Almost every minute of the day was consumed with caring for Mom. Came home 3 times a day from work, preparing meals, doctor visits, regulating her medicine, shopping for her, helping her move around from room to room, checking on her during the night and just spending quality time with her. Again....not a complaint.............as I would do it again in a heart beat............but Holy Crap what an eye opener!!! Caregivers are Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is my first time back to the forum since June, I'm finally getting caught up at home and work. I didn't BBQ much over the summer, as Mom was not a big fan of grilled/smoked food. Forget about the boating season. Now I'm hoping to start on my KK repair project for Dennis. Don't think I will ever take spare time / down time for granted again. If you know a caregiver....thank them......offer to give them a break.......do something nice for them..............it is a stressful and many times a thankless job. I call and thank my sister all the time now Went to Michigan last weekend to give her a break. . My hat is off to caregivers!!!!!!!!!
  19. Interesting side note....the first Yukon I received was dented in the side wall at the base of the unit. The dent was under a Styrofoam collar. The styrofoam was perfect. The box was perfect. We figured the damage had to happen before the unit was packaged. Maybe the units were too big and heavy for the employees packaging them????? They did send a prepaid shipping label and replaced the dented Yukon, no questions asked. I used the Bonfire last week on the water. Just used the Yukon last night. That domed fire grate is a royal pain. Decided it is getting cut out and replaced with something flat. The Bonfire performance is so much nicer!!!!
  20. I e-mailed them and asked about the fire grate, They said it is bowed the same as the old 30 inch. If it is.................not good!! Kristin H (Solo Stove) Jun 26, 2020, 1:32 PM CDT Hi Jon, Thanks for reaching out! Other than the size everything will be the same. Please feel free to check out this link that give Yukon 27" vs 30". https://blog.solostove.com/30-yukon-enters-the-hall-of-flame/ Let us know if you have any other questions. Have a great weekend! Kristin | Customer Relations Specialist Jon Besemer Jun 25, 2020, 11:54 AM CDT Is the fire grate inside the New 27" Yukon bowed/curved as much as the Old 30" Yukon or did you solve that problem and make it flatter like the Bonfire? ------------------ Submitted from: https://www.solostove.com/yukon-27/
  21. @ckreef Oh No!!!!!!!! (not too sure about the no messing with air vents feature)(looks like there is a top vent/air control) ??????????? Solo Stove Grill
