  1. Re: KK in Freezing Temps I live in northern Illinois and have no problem with the KK in freezing weather. I have done both high temp, and low and slows to perfection. I just clear the snow from the cover, and the ground, and give it a light. On real snowy days it cool to see everything covered in snow except the KK.
  2. Re: KK How-To (Please post your suggestions here for a Q&A!) Used the boards from the side of the crate to build up a ramp against the skid. Rolled the KK right off. Worked like a charm, and no heavy lifting.
  3. Carbone's House of Rehabilitation I would love to start a collections of Rehabs. It was fun, relatively easy, and best of all, looks and works like it was brand new. A little refractory work, a little tile work, and it was ready for cooking. Dennis, just ship the damaged ones to me and I will bring them back to life.
  4. I purchased the freight damaged KK with the neck completely sheared off. Dennis, as promised, sent me all the material to make the repair. Its been about a year and the results have be delicious.
  5. Today I had the honor of getting off early from work and heading to the butcher . Not any butcher but Ziers Prime Meats. Wow. I was greeted outside the door by a KK standing proud. Entering Ziers was even better. I was like a kid in the candy store, prepared with a insulated shopping bag. Now that I think about it, I should have had a cooler. The Meat was out of this world, homemade sausage, natural chickens, smoked salmon, beef jerky and a piles of charcoal and wood chips to name the least. I picked up a 5 rib prime beef to cook on the KK this weekend and even watched as the family cut it down from a full rack to a 10lb section. I could go on and on. If anyone is near the Chicago land area Ziers is the place to go. Thank You Zier family
  6. I place a foil pan in the front and then use a paint brush to brush the ash out the door. I use the brush to clean the sides and gasket as well.
  7. Extruded coconut charcoal in town I dont know if anyone has tried this but the extruded coconut charcoal is available at your local tobacco shop. It is used for hookas and at hooka bars to keep the tabacco lit. You might be able to work a deal with the owner to get a case price. I understand it is a very high grade and you dont have to pay for shipping.
