Rotisserie direction

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've just connected my EzQue rotisserie and found that the rotational direction is clockwise, which is the same direction to "unscrew" the basket.

Is this a problem when using the rotisserie or should I just really TIGHTLY screw the plug into the rotisserie?

Don't want to find my chooks dropped on the coals when it unscrews itself

UPDATE: I started the cook and just tightened the basket connector. All is fine after 45 minutes of turning... :P

ANOTHER UPDATE: WHen I checked the chookas at 1:15 the basket had stopped but the rotisserie motor was still turning

You have to ensure the little rod doesn't slip out :!:

Anyway chooks in the end were still good (I reckon the walls radiate the heat nicely hence the chicken still being cooked properly) :P

Photo's to follow

The roto goes backwards ....

Well it makes sense because Paul is on the other side of the equator and we all know things spin in the opposite direction in the southern hemisphere! Gee does it really mean that goes backwards too? Then I guess the question really is what is backwards to who?javascript:emoticon(':smt017')

Yeah, that was happening to me too till I made a longer motor to socket shaft. Dennis, you might wanna think about increasing that just a little.

TIME OUT! This is a FAMILY forum, after all. If you guys need to compare the relative lengths of your, um, "motor-socket shafts," don't you think you should take it upstairs?

hehehe.

Deej has a mod for everything, huh? Even if it's already better, he can make it MORE better. :smt038

Speaking of which, how did the workplace bbq fest go today? Everyone love your butts? :smt054

Hehe, I'll get out the yard stick and see! Seriously, in a few days when I actually have a moment, I will let you know. The best thing you can do is make sure it is pushed all the way into the socket side and not worry about the motor side.

Hey Deej, do you leave the gas burner "in" the KK when you BBQ?

I left mine in and this morning I discovered a little surprise...It melted the rubber gas hose right off at the connection :eek::eek: ! (yeah yeah I can make a photo of the sucker). I didn't do a very high temp cook only reached about 400 for the chooks

PS I'm contemplating going of on another rampage

Here's the evidence:

Just clarifying the hose was purchased from a local gas specialist and should have been okay (i.e not supplied by KK; Dennis always provides quality goods :) ). I'll go back there later this week and either ask for a replacement hose or one that can withstand slightly higher temps???

Yeah, I noticed that area gets very warm as I leave mine in too. You need something with more surface area to dissipate the heat. Just curious why you did not use the valve Dennis sent? That would greatly reduce the heat at your hose. The more surface area between the burner and the hose, the better.

Good thing the gas wasn't still turned on - eh?

Good question..here's a question:

What valve????

Whats you see is what I got I just bought the convertor (last section before the hose) so I could connect the burner to a standard aussie gas hose. I will look at your pictures to see if there's enough detail to see the difference. After I go back to the shop there's always the method of removing the gas burner (not my preference though!) :?

Trust me, hehe, you can see all the detail you want in these pics: viewtopic.php?t=1515 . But those are not the parts Dennis sent. My valve and hose are very different (yeah, I can't leave nottin' alone - hehe), so you cannot compare. Tony Oliver has a post on one of the burner threads that shows Dennis' valve (I would search, but I am out the door to work now).

They replaced the hose for a new one and said they would order in a stainless steel one that I could replace it with (supposed to withstand high temps!) 8)

She'll be right in a few days, hopefully before I go on holidays...

I think this is the thread you asked about the rostis motor to socket shaft length...right? Well, I can tell you what it will be with the motor I have, but I wonder if the battery motor might be different (as in the depth it goes into the motor...as that will change the max length). Anyway, mine is 3 3/8 ". Easy to measure, just push it all the way into the motor and measure the distance between the end of the shaft and the grill as you slide it down on the supports. Naturally you need a little working room.
