The job is very easy just a matter of removing the spring and pulling the pin. Having just done this - there is a super long 5mm hex key that came with my grill - I only found it after I had completed the task but what the heh!! - loosen the two points at the top of the stainless v at the back of the grill, swing this off, then you can unwind the spring from below with a 19mm wrench or similar - have the lid tilted back while you do this(but supported so it doesn't slump as you loosen the spring). Undo completely, remove supports from lid and ease it closed. Then take the pin out that holds the lid in place. Yes thanks Rak, It's a beautiful thing, have taken lots of pics, moved the whole thing up two steps through the house and out onto our deck by myself (Probably best Chrissy didn't see). No time to get pics up today - but it's outside doing the heat treatment thing now. Already noticed a huge difference to my previous one. All the different sizes are the same. Limited access area, so you can only get like a 1/16 turn on the hex bolt per attempt, which requires removing the wrench and re-inserting it each attempt without dropping it down inside the cover plate, all while trying not to scrap the back of your hand on the cover plate edges. Removing the dome and/or changing the spring tension does not change how the dome sits on the base. If you remove the dome and put it back on the dome will sit in the exact same position as when you started. With the dome closed and latched in the second position check the gap between the dome and the base all around. The gap should be uniform and the dome should be aligned equal left to right also. All grills now ship with a very long allen key that goes in from the other side of the spring and makes removing and installing those allen bolts easy. I was chewing over why I would have to remove the pin. Thanks. The link didn't work on my iPad either - might be a shortened address in the link. I sent note to Dennis because I made all of the other adjustments and checked the lid all around with some folded paper to make sure it clamped and was uniform.
