"Mac" Has Arrived

Recommended Posts

I haven't really named my grills before, as many on the forum have done, but Redhead Sue suggested that I have a name for the introduction of the new KK on the forum.

So In "honour" of my long time online kamado friend, MacKenzie, the new 19" KK table top has been named "Mac".   :occasion5:

Hopefully that name will help it cook up some of the wonderful food that she is always posting and sharing with us!!!!!    :notworthy:

Mac arrived at my work one day early.  I had to run home and grab the trailer at lunch time.  We loaded up the pallet on to the trailer with a forklift, placed the pallet jack under the pallet for off loading, removed all the loose boxes from the top and then strapped everything down for the 30 mile trip into town.

When I was off loading the pallet at the house, I had to drag the bottom of the pallet on the ramp to keep it from taking off on it own.  it was a little scary for moment.

Before Mac arrived, I built a heavy duty dolly to be the temporary stand for the winter.  It will be spending the winter in the garage but wanted to be able to move it around inside the garage and also outside to cook.

Removed the bottom cribbing from around the cooker, raised the pallet to the same height as the stand and then slid the cooker onto the stand.

It was raining out when the cooker was in the stand.  I wheeled it close to the door to try and get a natural light photo of the tile colors but I'm not sure it does it justice.  All the other photos were taken with the camera flash.

Here is how it looks sitting on the temporary stand.

We purchased the left table side and mounted that.  Also mounted the rotisserie bracket (didn't have time to figure out how that system works).

Nice tool hangers as part of the table assembly.

I believe Sue was just as happy with the new KK as Mrs. skreef!!!!!!!!

Probably will not be able to cook on it until Sunday.  Going out of town tomorrow until then.  Super excited to get cooking on Mac!!!!

Thanks for the help and comments.  More to follow.

that is gorgeous buddy!!  the tile looks great, seeing people next to these really puts the size into perspective.  This thing already looks bigger than my big joe and that scares the heck out of me!!!

Mac is a great name but it really does look like a bosco to me lol!!!

So was it the size, beauty etc that you were expecting??? or better??

Congrats!!

Wow Jon that looks fantastic. A really great looking KK. The dolly looks like it worked out perfectly. Looks nice and stable sitting in there. How well does it roll in and out of the garage?

Let me know if you need a couple of pictures of the rotisserie setup. Definitely took me a few minutes to figure that out. I would love to see a picture of your firebox for comparison to mine. Can't wait to see some cooks.

BTW that picture of Sue is priceless, I'll have to make sure Mrs skreef sees that.

Congrats! It's one thing to see the grills on the website or in peoples homes, but having a picture of yourself next to the grill really shows how substantial they really are. A friend of mine who owns an XL BGE stopped by the other day to check out my 21" KK. He was stunned at the size and commented "That is one imposing grill!". He said that based on the website photos, he thought it was going to be more "dainty and slender".

That is one very nice KK!  I love the color.  I think you have the same color as my 19  but mine is in pebbles, rather than tile.  No matter, that is one beautiful grill.  You're going to love how it cooks.  Make sure you do the burn in /venting of the acrylic grout to set the tiles before you do a high temperature cook... .  Just follow the instructions sent in the owner's manual.  All the best and congrats!

When I get the 32"....it will be named "Big Bad Bosco"

Not ever seeing a KK in person,  I was VERY impressed and all the information provided on the forum was/is spot on.

Jon, I was going around feeling kind of sad thinking your KK may not arrive today. When I spotted your post my eyes light up like it was Xmas and I thought it can't be. I couldn't believe my eyes and then to have you call it Mac. That is absolutely wonderful and I am thrilled that you chose that name. I love I love I love it. Thank you,  what an honour :love5:       :cloud9:

You did a great job on the colour, it is beautiful, stunningly beautiful, you must be thrilled. :) I will be watching for more pixs and your cook.:)

The dolly works better than I thought it would.  Was worried that the wheels were too small but it goes over the bump from the concrete to blacktop with no problems.  The cooker does slide around on top of the tiles, so I will need to block it in tighter or add handles to the dolly.

Posted the fire box pictures.  Going to send you a PM with some questions on the rotisserie.

Please do make sure Mrs. skreef sees the picture I took of Redhead Sue..............I took it just for her!!!!!!!

I was hoping you wouldn't mind..........also the fact that the main color is called 'creme' made me think of one of your other avatars "Peaches & Cream"

It all just seemed to fit the new name.    (Bosco does not remind me of creme!)
