  1. Rubbed the snapper with olive oil, lemon zest, garlic, hot red pepper, and fresh oregano. Used the lower grate and seared outside for three minutes a side and then indirect heat fir another 4-5 min. Came out great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  2. So among other things, I got two kurobuta pork chops and two sirloin steaks (black grade) from SRF as Christmas gifts from my husband. They were a little on the small side, so I knew I'd have to cook all 4 to get a decent meal for my family. Last night was the night. I made a sauce from dried cherries, wine, apple cider vinegar and orange juice for the pork and put a slice of blue cheese on the sirloin. My husband made spatzle for a side, and we had some good sauerkraut (Bubbies). My aunt makes her own, but this is a good replacement when I can't get that. Here are the pics those pork chops were amazing. While I still liked the sirloin steak, the star was definitely the pork chops. Sooooo good.

  3. LOL - random rotation; fill 'em all w/ charcoal, then use each one 'til the fuel is gone and move to the next. Unless of course I have a large group, then they all get pressed into service.

  5. We used scissor trusses for our pavilion and left the ends open to facilitate airflow/smoke dispersal.

  6. I had never watched hockey in my life before but, because MacKenzie tipped me off about the bet I was up at 5am watching it in the UK, willing the Canadian women on. What a fun match to watch. The end reminded me of a very long tennis match where the players match each other blow for blow until, with one small mistake, the other player gets on top and wins. Big deflation if it's not your player but a spectacle nonetheless. I was sad for the Canadians but what a lucky break for Jon B. Can't wait to see what his surprise package holds. And yes, don't mess with MacKenzie. As Arnie said, she'll be back!

  7. Did a pork loin the other day and drizzled it with Sazon. It was the second time I used the Roto and I'm still in awe of how quiet and easy it is to set up. I also made Reefs vinegar BBq sauce but I kicked it a couple of notches by adding a little more pepper, a heaping teaspoon of fresh ground chillipaste, 1 tbspn of Tabasco and 1 Tbspn of Worcestershire sauce. The vinegar I choose to use was a sweet Italian with Balsamic, only $2.99. This vinegar was good and worked well with all the ingredients. I used the sauce on a picnic shoulder I cooked yesterday and later pulled. It took all of 10 plus hours so it became late, hands were greasy so pics didn't come. It was pretty. Had a cowboy steak the other day and seared it down low with basket splitter in.

  8. Here’s mine. Whatever you end up doing, I recommend you mount a fan in space opposite the grill, so it can blow smoke away. It will build up, and ceiling fans just keep the smoke stirred up. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  9. Tony your dogs are adorable. Our first cavalier (Winston) died at 7 years as well from heart problems. This is our current dog Hunter and boy is his name fitting. He barks at chases everything and goes completely nuts when he sees animals (or shadows) on TV. His fur on his head is longer than most other cavaliers so the kids sometimes give him a spike (think unicorn or as my kids call him a poochicorn).

  10. Ever notice how amazingly delicious your clothes smell after cooking on your KK? At first I thought it was just me, but lately I’ve noticed my kids and wife tell me I smell good after cooking. Even the dog follows me around after dinner like a piece of meat. Didn’t have the same experience on my gas grill or water smoker (smelled more like a chimney). This could be the next big Kickstarter idea. Who wants in? We’ll need a catchy name.

  13. Well, whatever time of day it is, watching sport needs to be accompanied by food and an adult beverage. Let's just say that snooze in the sun in the afternoon might have had more to do with the Cornish cider than the fact I had had an early start.

  15. There was no poor loser'ness' in this thread. Everyone recognized the US won, and no one was suggesting it should be scrubbed from the record books. No one was crying foul, saying the rules changed, saying the rules were wrongly interpreted, or making any excuses. No one was trying to take anything away from the US women - or the Canadian women. We were just discussing if we liked the shootout or not. I didn't really care who won or lost that game, I just wanted to see a good game. I'm a fan of an NHL team and I like it better when they win, but overall, I am a hockey fan and I have opinions on what I think is right or wrong for the game. I'm not right, I'm not wrong; they are just my opinions.

  17. PICTURES, please!! Here are my 2 - Kipper (tri color) and Missy (Blenheim)! I owned another one before Missy, my 1st Cavie - Guinness. He was a sweetheart, but lost him at 7 years from heart problems (very common in Cavs.)

  18. Well Friday was the delivery day and it certainly did not disappoint! All i can say is WOW! Starting with how well everything was packed and then opening each item to see it first hand and appreciate the quality which everyone describes. As requested I took some pictures to share. Looking forward to firing it up!

  19. I am aware- but I'm also aware of health risks of not being active. If I need to replace a joint when I'm old- I will definitely hate that and it will suck, but being inactive also has (more) negative consequences.
