  4. For the last two years Mrs skreef has wanted me to pull the old rust bucket of a fire pit out of the bone yard. It was such a rust bucket I just couldn't do it. Then @Syzygies posted a link to the Solo Stove website. I poked around that website and found the Solo Stove Bonfire fire pit. After reading numerous reviews and watching many videos I knew this would be just perfect for Mrs skreef. It would allow us to have a nice looking fire pit in the BBQ garden. Ordered Thursday night. It arrived on Monday. It came with a nice, heavy duty carry bag. From the pictures I've seen it appears they have upgraded the coal plate. It is a slight dome shape with extra ridges to help prevent it from warping. Here it is in the BBQ garden. Also looking at the box it appears they now include the small lower stand. That allows air under the unit so you don't burn/scorch whatever it's sitting on. Super easy to light. A fire starter, a little kindling and a few bigger logs. Fire it up and within 20 minutes or so it's off to the races. Once going good it really is basically smoke-free. Here is a short video showing the secondary burn effect. Although a little pricey it's a well built SS unit with a lifetime warranty. Everything they say about it is true. It pumps out the heat. The only con I could see - if you're sitting around the fire, your legs from your shins down won't get any heat. It's a small con for having a smoke-free fire. I highly recommend it and both me and Mrs skreef feel it was one of our better accessories to the BBQ garden.

  7. I'd be interested. I never liked using a rotisserie, but I can see advantages to this meat hook. I'd use it in conjunction with your double-walled drip pan, for multiple reasons...

  8. Personally, I like it. The more methods of cooking you can do on a single grill, the more appeal. That’s literally why I like the kamado style of grilling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. Wrapped with tinfoil would also make a nice hat. Tinfoil hats are increasing in popularity around these parts. 😜 And that’s all there is to say about that.

  12. Finally, after drooling after the KK's for many years pulled the trigger in early December and ordered a 21" with many accessories. I have joined the list of Dennis fans, he was an absolute pleasure to talk to and furthermore went out of his way to put shipping on hold (after having started the process) because I had an unexpected trip out of the country come up. The grill landed on my backyard last Friday 1/10. Was so impressed with it in person that I felt the need to call Dennis and ramble about what an awesome product I received from him. First day did the burn in and got a few areas of venting which were grouted again very quickly. Second day (Saturday) did a few steaks. Third day (Sunday) got a handul of thin crust pizzas. Mid week did some burgers. And today tried the rottisserie for one of the juiciest chickens I have ever had. Tonight will smoke some salmon over night so early in the morning tomorrow I can smoke some pork ribs. What an awesome grill. My BGE that I have had for 10 years, will be retiring, should have got the KK much sooner. Phew.., enough rambling for tonight. One more extremely satisfied KK owner. 20200118_160614.mp4

  15. The family took a trip to the panhandle of Florida this weekend. I found some good looking local raised beef at the Seaside Florida farmers market. The Wagyu ribeyes looked great and I took a few home. Cooked them up tonight with some cabbage and sweet potatoes. Simple setting with small plates. Steaks were well marbled and amazing. I cooked them direct sear after a dry brine for 12 hours with just a little pepper and garlic. I picked up one of their fresh chickens too. I will cook it up latter this week.
