Progress was slow for the first two years but this past summer we decided to push for the completion. Everything you see was done by me and Mrs skreef. No contractors were involved. Small walk-in wet bar, expanded pantry, reclaimed wood on the walls, stained rustic molding, new doors, shelves, everything. The room features a Olhausen pine log pool table, Dart board and shuffle board. The walls are decorated with games and such. Most of them antiques but not everything. We still need to do some finishing touches but that will happen as time allows. The pool table. Pool accessories and darts. Some interesting antique board games. Blacksmith type hand puzzles and Macy's mobile. Games above the shuffle board. Walk-in wet bar. Small fishing section and small barrels. Window to the wet bar. Early 70's Japanese pachinko machine and Chinese cheakers. And last but not least a magic wall. We hope you enjoyed the pictures. The game room was a fantastic improvement for the house. It was a lot of work getting the walls finished in wood but it made her a very happy wife. @jonj here are a few close up pictures of the more interesting games. This has an interesting side story. Back when my grandmother was in her late teens a large biplane made an emergency landing in her parents farm field in up state NY. Back then this was a big deal. The entire community came out to check on the "crashed" biplane including a photographer. The biplane was a two seater containing the pilot and a mechanic. My grandmother being a pretty, young, lady started dating the mechanic. The mechanic also happened to be a race car driver driving a race car like the ones depicted on this board game. They got engaged but before they got married he died in his race car. He was trying to out run a train and lost. Although a tragic story, without the crash my grandmother would have never married my grandfather. A game about taking cotton bails to market on river boats. Interesting graphics. I especially like just below the #3 on the spinner. Very appropriate. Parcheesi originated in India. Although this is an American board it has graphics depicting India. Seemed to be a popular game but I had never heard of it. A game about Polly Pickles. It starts out when she was born and you follow her through he life as she becomes an actress. All her different adventures in her life until she finally becomes the "Queen of Movies". I imagine this was a young girls game which makes space #16 especially interesting. A caroom board with awesome graphics. One of the games is an export trading game with flags from around the world. These seem to have been produced forever with different graphics all the time. I have a few different hand dexterity puzzles. All of them impossible to win. This one is from England with the queen of England looking on. From the late 1800's (patented 1869). The flies are little felt pads. You used the spider body to push the flies around covering the corresponding circles on the web. Alas the spider has escaped. You see the spider was a big blob of mercury. Back in the day when they let kids play with mercury. You know they just didn't realize the whole brain damage going insane issue. I have a few Bagatelle games (table top pinball). This was a popular one made for many years. The color is faded but the caricatures are awesome. Drunk hill billys, convict paddling an old man, gypsy at bat etc.... This is an old German version. The wood and graphics are in excellent condition. It has traditional German style animated animals. And what's with all the pumpkin heads? A small version where you try and build a poker hand. This is one of my favorite pieces. A company from the turn of the century who made ivory billard and pool balls. I love the elephants playing pool. You know that's what elephants want to do just before they are killed for their ivory. Yea it was a different time back then. I was was only able to find 2 examples of this on the internet and one of those examples is hanging on my wall. Last but not least an old set of handcuffs. What story could these tell. Somebody wanted out of them they just didn't have enough time to complete the task. Sorry about the crappy pictures. I would like to get another one of these days. The owner of the store where we bought our pool table restores old pinball machines. He currently has a really nice one. "Doctor Dude". Not sure Mrs skreef would go for it as it would take up valuable real estate where one of the big stools resides.
