  1. I have a software release scheduled for next week and the past couple of weeks have been extremely hectic, more so this week. On another note, my wife just saw the grill a few minutes ago and then immediately rushed back inside to grab her camera. When she came back out, she handed me the camera and asked me to start shooting. I took about eight pictures of her standing by the KK 32 and the accessories and two pictures of her standing between the KK 32 and the oval. Afterwards, she said that oval which she likes a lot could not remain under the gazebo next to this new grill because the new grill was making it look bad. She even said that the oval now looks like something I got from Home Depot. She asked whether I was going to give it away to someone or put it far away from the new grill and closer to the house. She also asked whether I would have the welder build a small gazebo for the oval. The last thing she said was "I know how much the oval costs, I can only imagine how much new grill costs, but I don't need to know".
  2. I received my grill today! This thing is awesome! It is BIG! A couple of guys who helped me plus the carrier guy were simply in awe of this grill. They had never seen anything like it. I can't wait to test it out on Sunday or Monday!
  3. Houston, we have a problem. I was looking on the KK site and saw the following dimensions for the Big Bad 32: 46x46x 59". We have wrought iron fence and the gates do not exceed 37". I have called my welder to come take down part of the fence in the back so the crate will be able to get through tomorrow. I am waiting to hear something back. Does anyone know if the carrier will assist in getting it to the yard?
  4. Breaking News: Delivery is confirmed for Friday morning.
  5. I am beginning to get frustrated. Whenever I call the carrier, it's always a long wait. Guess what? My phone number was off by one digit. I am not sure how they got the wrong number for me. They corrected it twice and yet, when I checked the status online, it said "Attempting to set Delivery Appointment". I am not sure what that means. I did not see any missed calls. Now, I am beginning to think that I won't even have it in time for the 4th. I'm really beginning to lose patience.
  6. Breaking News: The KK 32 arrived at the terminal today, but no delivery has been scheduled. I've been tracking the KK 32 and I saw this morning that it had arrived at the terminal. This afternoon I called to arrange for a delivery, but I was put on hold on for too long and had to hang up. Tomorrow would have been a perfect day for the delivery, but it had to be scheduled today. Oh well, I hope to hear from them tomorrow. As for my event on Saturday, everything went well. The oval did a lot of heavy lifting and everyone raved about the ribs! How can I ever get rid of my oval? When my KK 32 did not show up, my oval saved the day. A number of folks came under the grill gazebo to take a look at the oval and were very impressed. When some of them learned I had a new grill on the way, they could not understand why I needed a new grill. When I told them as great as the oval is, the new grill is in a league of its own. Is it an Egg? My response was NO. Is it a Joe? NO. "What is it then?", another person asked. I replied it was Komodo Kamado Big Bad 32 and of course, I had to spell it. One lady googled it immediately and almost went under cardiac arrest. "OMG! You paid that much for a grill?", she asked. My wife who was nearby overhead and immediately said "I don't want to know. I don't want to know. He said it was expensive". That lady made things worse by shouting "He bought a charcoal grill that costs more than than a Wolf or Viking range!". Then my wife said "Honey! Honey! What? Anyway, please hurry up with those burgers!". Later that evening, my wife insisted that she did not want to know about the price. I guess I am now in trouble!
  7. It is event day today and my ribs are still not done. They've been on the oval since 4:00 AM. I went to sleep around 6:00 AM and woke up at 7:30 AM. To my consternation, when when I went to check the ribs, I noticed that the temperature had dropped from 250 before I went to sleep to 160 degrees. I had plenty of charcoal in there, but I guess I should have opened the vent a little more given that I was using the deflector plates. That's just too bad because I still need to cook burgers and hot dogs. If only I had received my KK 32! The guests will be here in 3 hours.
  8. My contractor just wrapped up my custom 17' x 7' grill gazebo today. Within the next 2-3 weeks, I plan to have the custom outdoor kitchen built right under the gazebo. I ordered side tables with my KK 32, but it now appears I won't ever use them. Also, I received my rotisserie motor today. I did not expect it to be so heavy. Won't it damage the KK 32 if it is permanently mounted on the side?
  9. Breaking News: Monday 6/27 is when I can expect a call about scheduling the delivery. The KK will not arrive at the terminal until after 6:00 PM tomorrow. This is really sad!
  10. The issue is that I was really counting on the KK 32 to do a lot of cooking tomorrow i.e. 6/24 especially since the number of guests for Saturday has increased from 100 to 160. As for July 4, I'll have only 30 folks. Why wife keeps asking when will the grill show up. I have not told her the bad news, but I have already gotten in touch with a few caterers which should compensate for that. Actually, I'm trouble! However, the guests will be fed now matter what.
  11. Bad news: My KK 32 will NOT be delivered today because it has not even arrived at the terminal in my area. It is unlikely it will be delivered tomorrow which would be too late anyway and I definitely would not want it to be delivered on the day of the event on Saturday. Now, I'm going to have to use my oval and also call a catering service. That truly sucks! It's my fault because I took too long to make up my mind between the KK 23 and K32. Oh well, I'll use it on Independence Day I guess.
  12. Yes. I will take lots of pictures. I recall someone saying that I was supposed to receive a user manual via email. So far, I have not received anything. Is there a video out there that walks you through the KK 32 in great details? I have seen quite a few videos online, but I have not found the definitive guide that covers everything about the KK 32 similar to the online resources available for my oval. Before I received my oval, I already knew how to accurately control the temperature and use it effectively to cook ribs, beer can chicken, pork loin etc... because there so many detailed how-to videos available online. Given that I won't have much time to fiddle around with my KK 32 before my event, I'd like to really educate myself before it gets here on Thursday.

  14. I finally got my notification this morning. My KK 32 will be delivered on 6/23!
  15. Breaking News: I'm having my contractor build a custom gazebo 17' x 7' with a 8'-10' ceiling to house both the KK 32 and my extra large oval. Everything should be done by mid-week. Phase 2 will follow in 2-3 weeks and will include electrical work and an outdoor kitchen with granite countertop. My dilemma is that my oval is mounted to a stainless steel table. Perhaps , the countertop area can be designed so that the oval table can be slid right under it. Maybe, I'll create a platform just for the oval and then sell the table to an oval owner. Maybe, I'll replace the oval with a small KK. Nah! At least not now.
  16. A one-hour notice would not work for me. Ideally, I would need a 48-hour notice, but at the very least a 24-hour notice. I emailed Dennis yesterday and I am waiting for a response.
  17. The fact that I have not received any notifications concerns me given that my event will be on 6/25, just one week away. I hope to get it by 6/22 so I can try it out in time before I do the real cooking on 6/24 to feed over 100 people on 6/25. If it does not come by 6/22, that will be very unfortunate because I will have to start cooking on my oval two days before the event.
  18. I haven't received any email notification regarding my shipment. Will someone contact me regarding a delivery date and time or will the truck show up unannounced?
  19. My EE days are behind me. Nowadays, I just write software. So, I won't be soldering anything. LOL! I'll just go for the heavy duty motor so I can roast a pig big enough to feed 60-70 people. You guys have been great with this process! That will complete my accessory list for now.
  20. OK. I will hold off for now. In my previous post, I said the stoker appears to be superior, but is it really superior? I will let others who have used both decide, but for me, I like the fact I could control multiple cookers with the stoker II since it has 6 ports. As I said before, I have an oval which I intend to keep for now. If I decide to get another grill after the KK 32, I could possibly end up having 3 grills. Based on what I've read, I'd be able to control all three of them using the same Stoker II. In fact, someone mentioned to me that port expanders can be used to control a lot more cookers, but that would be an overkill for me. As for the rotisserie motor, I am thinking about getting the following: http://www.onegrill.com/Stainless_Electric_Grill_Rotisserie_Spit_Rod_Motor_p/4pm05.htm Will the KK 32 right side table have to be removed when using this specific motor? If so, I'll bite the bullet and get the heavy duty motor i.e. http://www.onegrill.com/Heavy_Duty_Electric_Rotisserie_Spit_Rod_Motor_p/4pm08.htm
  21. OK. I may hold off on the temperature controller for now, but when I decide to get one, it will probably be the Stoker II which appears to be superior. Am I missing something? Also, I decided to order 10 additional bags of charcoal (5 coconut and 5 coffee) as well as an extra rick rack. The only accessory left is the rotisserie motor. I intend to roast a pig in a couple of months. Is it true that if I order the heavy duty motor, I won't be able to use one of the side tables that I ordered? What are KK 32 owners using?
  22. Wow! I see that folks are passionate about their KK grills. As for replacing my oval with a KK 23, I do not rule it out, but it's not going to happen now unless one falls from the sky and lands in my backyard tomorrow. I've been extremely happy with my oval, but I agree that cooking on the KK 32 will be on another level. I cannot wait for it to get here. If everything goes well with the shipment, I may get it within a week. With respect to getting more charcoal, what is the recommended amount for the first order? What other accessories are out there for the KK 32? I need a motor for the rotisserie, but I don't know which one to get from OneGrill. For temperature controller, I have decided to go with Rock's Bar-B-Que Stoker II, but I haven't placed the order yet.
  23. I'm fairly new to grilling. It all started a little over a year ago when I was invited to a colleague's house to celebrate his 40th birthday. As he was giving me a tour of his house, he took me to his backyard to show me his baby. There it was A BIG Green thing which I had never seen before. He said it was a grill which he and his wife frequently use to make the most delicious dishes. He gave me an overview of ceramic grills in general and I was very impressed. When I came home, I told my wife about it and I could begin to see the light of redemption at the end of the tunnel. Redemption? Well, let's say 4 years ago, I purchased a charcoal grill/smoker from Lowes for about $400 and two weeks later decided to invite a few friends and relatives to come eat some of my ribs, which, by the way, I was going to try for the very first time. I purchased 9 slabs of St. Louis ribs AND I burned them all! It was a total disaster! So, when I saw that big green thing at my colleague's and heard all the wonderful things about, I thought that was going the grill for me. So, I did a little bit of research and in the end, I opted for this extra large black oval thing and suddenly, I was on prime time! After some Youtube videos on how to cook the best ribs on that black oval thing, I decided to cook some ribs. My goodness! They turned out to be totally amazing. Some folks even said they were the best ribs they had ever had. I, now, have been grilling on my oval for about a year and I love it! So, why was I recently looking for a new grill? My wife and I are throwing our son a birthday party at the end of June and the plan was to have everything catered, but three weeks ago, my wife changed her mind, which she has a right to, and instead wanted us to cook for 100+ people. She said we could invest in another grill and so, I decided to do some research. As great as my oval is, I wanted to try something different. I started looking at the big green thing and also the big red thing. I decided that I would get the big red thing, but I also would also have to get a custom table for it. While I was reading some online articles and watching videos about the big red thing, I stumbled into the Komodo Kamado grills. My first reaction was why pay so much for a grill? Then, I started reading more and watching more videos and I realized this grill was lightyears ahead of the so-called competitors. I'm very happy with my oval and will continue to cook on it for years, but I must concede that this grill, based on what I have learned, is far superior. At first, I decided that I would get KK 23 in bronze metallic, but I was still feeling guilty about its price. I called Komodo Kamado to ask some basic questions and Dennis answered the phone and we spent about 20 minutes on the phone. The support is out of this world! I think Dennis and I had spoken 7 times before I finally decided this past Friday to get a KK 32. Initially, I wanted a bronze metallic, but it was not going to be delivered in time and so, after talking to Dennis again, I picked an Autumn Gold Flake. Now, I think I even like the Autumn Gold Flake better than the Bronze Metallic. Here are the details of my order: 1. 32" Big Bad, Autumn Gold Flake A6901A 2. Pair 32 BB - Stainless/Teak Side tables 3. 32” Big Bad ~ Sunbrella cover 4. 32” Big Bad ~ Basket splitter 5. 32” Big Bad ~ SS Rib Rack 6. 32” Big Bad ~ Drip pan Double 7. 32” Big Bad ~ Baking stone 8. 32” Roti Cradle 27” x 10” 9. 32” Big Bad ~ 8" Roti reducer 10. 32” Big Bad ~ 6" Roti reducer 11. Teak and stainless Grill grabbers 12. 40 lbs CoCo Charcoal 13. 40 lbs Coffee lump Charcoal Now, I can't wait to get my new grills!
