  1. Would love to see one of these in person. I'm willing to travel.
  2. @Mcjudsten That is really helpful, thank you! How is the lid handling of the 42 considering that it weighs 360 pounds? I know it is spring assist but it still has a lot of momentum? Right now I am trying to decide between the 38 and 42. I prefer the looks of the 38 and I suspect the lid is a little easier to handle, but who doesn't want the added space of the 42? For me it's less about being able to cook a massive amount of food at once and more about having a center fire and space to the sides to bring food in and out of, keep food warm, etc.
  3. Hello! I found some older posts referring to a rotisserie splitter that would allow dividing front/back on the 32 (38/42 also?) grills. I can't find this on the website and the link to it no longer works. Has this project been cancelled?
  4. Thank you @tekobo! Lately I have been leaning towards the 38 or 42 due to their ability to do a smaller cook in the middle with ample indirect space on the sides to move food in and out of. The 38 would offer about 14" x 15" of charcoal area, while the 42 would be around 18" x 15" area. Although I'm not sure how nice it is to cook this way? Ie is it better to divide in half and use left vs right sides?
  5. Hello! Given that- The charcoal basket is huge and heavy The divider system covers the handles to the charcoal basket There is a door at the bottom of the charcoal basket? How easy has your ash cleanout been while leaving the charcoal basket in place, or do you get some friends and remove it each time? Do you have any photos of the basket door open? On my Primo XL I like to take everything out and use a shop vac. Cheers!
  6. When somebody has a chance, can you please give me the length and width of your charcoal basket for either a 32 or 42? I didn't see this on the website
  7. Hello KK users! As I consider the 32 vs the 38/42, one of the differences besides their sizes is that the 32 has a single grate per level while the 38/42 has three pieces per level (I know you can also get a smaller side grate for the 32). 32 users, are you wishing you had smaller pieces to work with? A single piece seems nice and fast, but they are also pretty large. 42 users, do you like the individual grates or does it make the grill feel overly complicated for small and simple cooks? Seems like using just the center grates at times could work. Cheers!
  8. @Davidm I'm not sure if you are still around, but your original story is very close to my situation while I decide between the 32, 38, 42. How are you feeling about your choice a year later?
  9. As I consider my first KK cooker (coming from Primo Oval XL), I have been heavily leaning towards the 38 or 42. However, I realized that I should also consider the 32 while leaving open the option to add a second 32. Most of my cooks are for 5 people with the occasional larger cook (10-12 people) a few times a year. Pros of two 32s Two independent cooking zones allowing both different temperatures or methods (indirect in one, rotisserie in the other) When cooking small, the smaller KK is theoretically easier to deal with? I prefer the looks of the 32 vs the 42. Perhaps easier to move the grates around since they are in one piece? Or are they more of a pain because they are heavier? Pros of the 42 Easier to cook a large quantity of food The capability to cook longer food items, such as a pig or large in-tact fish. I like the wider charcoal basket which gives more room directly above the coals I suppose a compromise would be to start with the 38 with the option of adding another cooker, but I risk the mental torture of "I should have gotten the bigger one!" or "I should have gotten the smaller one" haha Anything else that I am missing?
  10. Does anybody know the dimensions of the charcoal caddy for the 32, 38, or 42?
  11. I think this i where the splits are? Looks like the middle grate is the one that changes size between the 38/42
  12. @DennisLinkletterFor the 38 grates vs the 42, how does the square middle grates (lower and main) compare in width? Has the 4" been removed from the center section, the outer sections, or both?
  13. I also like how in the 38 and 42, the grates are divided into thirds which I'm hoping makes them a little easier to manage (although perhaps a little slower, but I have the time).. Hx31416, why would you choose the 38 over the 42?
  14. When I'm trying to make a decision like this, my wife always says "just get the big one."
