  1. Ribs look awesome!! My first low heat cook I also thought the fire was going to go out but it never did. As others have said, these cookers are so efficient that they have the ability to maintain low temps with very little airflow. Unlike other kamados, air flow on KK goes directly through the charcoal basket. It looks like your off to a great start with your KK, enjoy and keep posting pics!!

  2. All in all it was a successful cook. Everybody really liked the ribs including my self. I learned a lot about my KK on this cook. It really is amazing how little airflow it takes to maintain a low temp. At first I was scared  the fire was going to go out but it just cruised right along. I became more confident as the cook went on and I actually left the house for an hour or so during the cook, no issues the temp stayed rock solid. Looking at my charcoal basket after I snuffed it out, the coals burned to the right half. The smoking wood that I placed on the left half was untouched. Next time I will do something different with the smoking wood just not sure what. I may look into making a smoke pot like some of you have.

  3. I'm finally getting around to doing a low heat cook today. I picked up 3 racks of some good looking baby backs from my butcher. I went out early this morning and started prepping the KK. I topped off the charcoal basket with coffee char and lit it in one spot in the center with my mapp torch. My bottom vent was opened about half way and my top was 1 turn open. Once the temp hit 200 I put in the double bottom drip pan and the main grate. Once the temp got back up to 200, I adjusted the bottom vent to about a credit card thickness open, and closed the top vent to 1/4 turn open. I put my maverick probe on the main grate just so I can keep an eye on things from the house. A little over an hour and the KK was settled in around 270. At this time I took the grate and the drip pan out and placed a couple of chunks of coffee wood on and around the lit coals. I put everything back in and put the ribs on. After I got the lid closed, it took the temp about 20 min to stabilize back at 270-280 range. I'm just going to let these babies cook through, not going to foil or anything. I will post some pics of the final product once I get there. I Really love cooking on this grill!!image.jpg

A little late but congratulations on your KK. I'm going through a house move myself.  I wish my garage was as neat as yours.

Thanks! The garage in the pic was actually not that bad prior to KK showing up. I still need to get my tools and work bench organized. Now my garage attached to my house is whole different story, stuff stacked everywhere.

I'm not going to be able to do the burn in until this weekend, but I couldn't resist so I rolled it outside and cooked some burgers on it... I followed a post Bosco made about vent settings and it was right on. I lit 1 spot of lump with my mapp torch, bottom vent halfway open, top vent open 3 turns. It got up to 300 fairly quick and I closed the bottom to 1/4 open and the top to 1 turn open. Within 20 min or so she was parked at 350. I opened the top just a little more and I was at 375. Temp control on these cookers is a thing of beauty. The burgers were just simple cheese burgers with a little dizzy pigs, but they came out great!! Soo juicy!! Didn't get any pics of them sorry...

My 23 was delivered today and I couldn't be more happy!!! I had the driver drop it off in my detached garage. We just moved in this house a month ago and my garages are still a mess. These pics were taken from my phone so not the best quality

Now I just need to recruit some help and get this baby on my deck!! The bad news is that we are supposed to get 4-5 inches of rain over the next couple days.

  8. I actually ordered mine off of Amazon. I searched for OneGrill Rotisserie and found the one for our grills. The model number 4PM05 was listed in the description. It arrived at my house in just a couple of days. It looks like the right one but I have yet to plug it in and check rotation. Hopefully my grill will be here next week for me to give it a proper test!!

  9. I called Dennis this morning and went ahead and placed an order. I got a 23 Ultimate. I also ordered a 8" roto basket with cradle, double bottom drip pan, baking stone, grate grabbers, cover, and a few boxes of charcoal. Dennis is great to do business with, full of information and never once did he pressure me into buying anything. I still have to go up to the bank this afternoon to do the transfer. Now the hard part, the wait... Oh, I got the Terra Blue...post-2605-0-85272900-1456253494_thumb.jp
