  1. Re: Johnny Boy's KK cover I reviewed the material at Sunbrella, and just sent John an email to initiate the order. The worst problem we have here is the waist and reproductive material from the ubiquitous oak leaf moth.
  2. No name yet I haven't come up with a name yet. Maybe it should be H1N1 since that's probably what I had when it arrived!
  3. I bought both the 6" and 8" EZ-Que. One directly from Viking and the other through a Viking dealer. According to the customer representative at Viking, the company has no plans to renew their contract with EZ-Que. I purchased one of two remaining 6" units. They referred me to the Viking distributor in the SF Bay area. I then had to have a local dealer order it , the 8", from the distributor.
  4. #627 was delivered January 13 to my California Central Coast location near Monterey, one week after placing the order. My enthusiasm at its arrival was only tempered by a bad case of flu! After waiting a couple of days, friends, one of whom is an owner of the "other" Kamado, and I uncrated the merchandise. We were all blown away by the quality of the unit. I can't recall a single purchase in the last 30 years in which there is such craftsmanship. It is incredibly engineered with an eye for detail. The artisans that built this in Indonesia must be very proud! I want to thank Dennis for his professionalism, probity, and responsiveness. I look forward to firing the unit soon, and I will let you know how it goes.
  5. Re: versatile Miichael, After reading the recipes in the link, I suspected a Basque or Potuguese influence. Apparently it is the latter. I grew up in California's Central Valley where there is a substantail Basque influence dating back to the early sheep industry. Living on the coast now, there is more of a Portuguese influence. By chance I was in a produce market in Monetery yesterday and happened across some very fresh looking small pink beans. I suspect they might be the pinquinto beans mentioned in the article. I bought some to try. Unfortunately I was unable to determine the source, but I will find out.
  6. Can you remove the block which prevents me from using a web link? Thanks!!
  7. I can use all the tips that I can get! I am located a bit further north on the central coast near Monterey. I have a friend in the Salinas area who has the "other" Komodo (one built when they were a good product made in Sacramento). I'm sure that he may be able to inpart some wisdom as well. How long have you had your KK?
  8. The color is the "New Rusty Mix." I haven't figured out yet how to attach the jpeg file. But will do so when I get over the brain fart!
  9. I appreciate the confirmation and the advice. This is going to be great learning experience!
  10. Thanks for the welcome. It's my understanding that the two racks sold by Viking, 6" and 8", are both compatible with the parts supplied by KK. Is this correct?
  11. I placed my order for a 23" OTB yesterday. I suspect it will arrive soon with such a short shipping distance. I'm stoked! Can anyone tell me if EZ Que is still in business? Thanks in advance.
