  1. So...returned to Palm Springs and had a chance to assess the bumps and bruises from "tatay's" field trip: - Rubber on one of the wheels was cut (!?!?) so that it has a flat side - Missing one of the knobs - Couple of bolts gone from one of the brackets that held left side table - Heat deflector and charcoal lighter were gone But otherwise....except for a throrough cleaning, all is well and it is operational. Thanks for all of the help folks....and happy grilling!
  2. Fortunately, Dennis will not have to activate the flashback recovery alert system. Received a call yesterday afternoon from the Palm Springs Police that "Tatay" had been found. The police were kind enough to deliver directly to my house in PS later that afternoon. Other than a broken wheel caster and a 1/2 layer of dust, Tatay looks to be none the worse for wear. My 8 yr old son was in tears when the grill was stolen...over the moon now that we have Tatay back home. Love storybook endings.... Big thanks to Wilbur for spotting the craigslist posting and Dennis for his amazing forensic photo analysis skills and vigilance in tracking me down. And of course...thanks to all for the empathy/suggestions/good wishes through this ordeal. Howard
  3. No news from the Palm Springs Police today and the advertisement on Craigslist got pulled. Will let you all know if something develops next week.
  4. Argh....I was not getting notifications from this forum....and I had given up hope and stopped checking....but thanks to all of you that were looking out (especially Wilbur for catching the ad) Dennis is a rockstar and called me today. I have contacted the authorities and things are in motion. I will update everyone as to the outcome.....very hopeful that we can return "Tatay" back home. Thanks to all...
  5. To my dismay, my grill went missing from my backyard while I was on vacation. I filed a police report and have checked local craigslist and other on-line adverts to see if someone might be trying to sell on-line....but nothing so far. The grill in question was a Terra Blue Ultimate 23" OTB (affectionately named "Tatay" by my young son) purchased in 2011. I don't assume that these get stolen very often (if at all), so would appreciate it if anyone could let me know if they see this model for sale in the Southern California area. Thanks....
