bryan Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 1) Freight prices increase due to diesel prices going up. 2) Sam's Club and others are cheaper when buying meats by the case. (get ahead of price increase) Quote

Was that about eight butts to the case? Just curious. Looks like about 67.5 lbs. of meat, so eight butts would be an average weight of 8.4 pounds per butt. Also, are the butts individually wrapped, or are they wrapped in pairs? Thanks Quote
fcnich Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 Re: Food price increase Well, in the past at Sams the butts came from IBP, and there were 8 butts in case packed in pairs. The case i bought Wednesday was from a new supplier, Cargill and there were 10 butts packed in pairs in this one, so about 6.5 pounds per butt. Quote
bryan Posted April 7, 2012 Author Report Posted April 7, 2012 Re: Food price increase Sams lets me pick from the weights they have. Glad to note Cargill packs packs 10/2. Quote
Cookie Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 Re: Food price increase I have little sympathy for ya'll...here in Singapore, I pay $75 USD for an 8 pound pork butt... A pound of ground beef you ask? $12 USD. A 24 pack of the local everyday, nothing special, domestic beer....$50 USD... I have dreams about Sam's and Costco... Quote
fcnich Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 Re: Food price increase My that is pricey. luckily here in the midwest we are surronded by hundreds of pork producers, so we benefit from that. A single pork butt runs anywhere from $1.98 to $2.38 per pound currently. Quote
