  1. If you cook your last turkey carcass in large pot or roaster and make turkey stock instead of soup, Freeze stock in 1 cup servings and you can use that next time you make dressing and it will taste like it came out of the turkey. Depending on how much stock you use it will be moist and not dry. It works for me.

  2. Re: And the Prius up on blocks in the yard...

RATS!! Forgot to measure the door between the dining room and kitchen.

I worked for a guy many years ago who was a successful businessman and quite a character. He tackled problems immediately and directly then moved on.

So when the new fridge showed up and wouldn't fit throught the door to the house, he told the delivery guys to hang on a moment, walked to the garage, returned with a chain-saw and proceeded to hack a hole in the side of the house right where the fridge needed to go.

They slid in the fridge while he rang his contractor to come fix the wall.

Not the safest or most efficient method, but he did get things done.

I may have been the delivery guy, because that happened to me about 35 years ago. He got the saw cut the hole the wall fell into the yard and he said it'll fit now slide it in there. Craziest thing i saw while delivering appliance's.

  3. Happy Birthday Dennis. The problem with 50 candles is you risk a flashback! Besides isn't 50 the new 30? ;) ....at least that's what Dennis Hopper says on his commercial.

Being just 66 months beyond 50 I can understand the momentum that picks up on the other side of the 'hill'.

The little princess will keep you young for some time to come!

Momentum... after 50 it was more of a free fall, but don't worry when you get there you'll laugh and scream all the way, like a roller coaster ride.

Form Hawaii Hau'oli La Hanau Hanau ( Happy Birthday) from Hawaii

  4. Hopefully I will be able to upload a video or at least post a link to the video' date=' I will be showing my KK on ABC7 Chicago on Monday, Grilling tips, and the like. We'll have kabobs, flat irons, some portabello mushrooms. If it rains,I'll have done them at home the night before at home, and can only show the cooker as a prop. This is the first of many appearances to come! Another one next Saturday morning on NBC. GO KomodoKamado!!![/quote']

Maybe we can all get Bobby Flay to trade in his Weber and get a real grill ( sorry in advance to all those people who still have Weber's )

  5. Now, last night I started my toy up for some steaks and lit up just a couple of coals on top of the pile then tried to keep it under 300.. it worked... then I opened it up to get it hot for the sear, burned my fingers opening it, let out a yelp where my neighbor gave me a funny look... he's still amused by the urn in my back yard. So, all in all I think I am ready for the big cook this weekend and as a precaution I just got back fm the sote with a nice pair of welding gloves.

You can get some pretty dangerous flashback when opening a sealed grill with a roaring fire. Especially when you close off all the air to a big fire. Trick is to give it some air before opening back up. Open the bottom damper or just crack the lid open slowly also works. I think most everyone here has singed a few hairs at some point in their ceramic lives. Consider it your rite of passage now...hehe...just don't kept passing through it anymore.

BTW, The Naked Whiz web site has some great info on flashbacks. He even put his own life in peril (for our amusement) just to provide us with the safety information...hehehe. http://www.nakedwhiz.com/flash.htm

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Woo that smell can't you smell that smell

The smell of burnt hair is around you.

After the first two flashes I've gotten in the habit of cracking the lid and give it a 2 count then open. I don't even care what the temp is, if i don't do it every time i know it will bite me sooner or later. It can get easy to forget after a few beers to check the temperature

  6. Thanks Dennis...I now remember when you announced that pan, but I can't remember the answer to the question about the pattern on the bottom of the pan. Is it laser cut or just a design in the bottom of the pan. I know it does not make sense that a drip pan would have holes in the bottom of the pan....

I do have the one pictured with the heat deflector seated inside of it. I will PM you

No holes in the pan just a design. I did go back and look at the picture and can see how you may have seen holes.

  7. Re: Got it

My OTB got delivered today it was out of the crate and in place in 20 minutes---no problems, the truck driver wheeled it into my ysrd on a pallett jack ---Very nice not a scratch on it

    Thanks Dennis[/quo

    Got Pictures?

  8. That is incredible---do you do any wild ducks--i am a die hard duck hunter

I have never painted or drawn any ducks but it would be no different than any other subject.

I think it would be different. The glass would quack more easily.

    Sometimes you quack me up!!

  9. OK you asked for it

I use to do portrait and figure but now i have being doing more wildlife. The drawing in called "Silverpoint" i draw with a piece of silver that i put a point on. It's a type of drawing that was done 600 to 700 years ago, very few people do it now because once you put a mark down you can't change it {no eraser}. The other paintings are oils.

  10. My wife would like me to get away from the glass do to the dangers form glass and carbide dust and get back to my oil paintings.

But for now i think i'm going to put some beer on ice stuff a bunch of jalapenos and fire up the KK.

If your turtle is even a hint of what you do in oils, WOW!! Oh - I said that twice already. But still WOW!!!

Yup, time for a beer and some Q. It's weekend, finally. Aaaah.

If you would like to see a couple of my paintings just let me know and i'll post them.

  11. Mahalo for the feedback on my artwork. Fortunately i have had very little breakage over the years and no cut fingers.

  12. Wow! Do you do that for a living? If not' date=' you should, lol![/quote']

It's what i do to pay for my Q.

Actually the caving and coloring stone tile is something new, what i have being doing for the last 20 years is carve and etch glass.

  13. No didn't cook one, but i did carve one into Travertine and then airbrushed color and sealed with casting resin. Normally i carve and etch glass so this was something different for me. The tiles where 18"x18"

  14. In the kk about 425 for 25 minutes. I had a stone in there but thought it may be to hot on the bottom of the bread for that long. So i put them on a insulated cookie pan. It seemed to work because the bottom come out perfect.

  15. I used a uhaul with a ramp, we had a large fridge dolly, me at the top two friends controlling the speed down the ramp. After moving the second one They both said that they would be checking there caller id just in case i was to call again. The dolly had about 3/4" on each side of the ramp.
