  1. Re: My KK has arrived!! I only took the temp around 500F. That's what the guide said. The pizzas took a bit longer than I expected, but provided the first day, first cook experience I was looking for.
  2. I am so excited that my KK and pallet of coco char has finally arrived. It was a long wait, but it is great to have it home. It wasn't without a struggle that it's finally resting where I can admire ti from inside the house or on the deck. I scheduled delivery for 11AM, so that I might be able to convince the driver to give my partner and I a hand. The driver called around 10AM and was promptly here 10 min later. When I went to talk to the driver he stated "I have been driving around as if I had goldfish in the front seat". He was definitely being cautious and was truly concerned about damaging my KK (let me say that I appreciated his caution). As he was getting onto the lift gate he also made mention of the fact that once he got it onto the pavement his part of the delivery was over (I guess we weren't getting any extra help this morning). Here's the catch... I live in a brownstone style condo that has the main floor and deck are 11 steps up from ground level. UGH!!!! (The PIC of our treacherous ascent are below) Thank goodness he agreed to take the pallet of coco char around back to the garage. Walking all of those boxes around the building would have taking me to the breaking point after finally getting the KK up those D*!# stairs. After getting the crate top off we just stared in amazement!! Dennis truly makes an AMAZING product! Web pics don't do the KKs justice. Soon the stare of amazement turned to a star of disbelief on how we were going to get it up the stairs. So, we began to disassemble it. We loosened the spring, removed the top, and carried the top up the stairs. That wasn't too bad. I figured maybe we were in luck and moving the bottom half wouldn't be as difficult as anticipated. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!! With the use of the ropes we were able to get it from the street, over the curb, and onto the sidewalk. From there we did the same to get it up the 2 steps and onto the first landing. OK, where and how do we proceed from here??? Let's try the same thing up the stairs... or not... We were stumped for a short bit and tried to think of the best way to proceed from here. We decided to use a stair dolly, loaded the front end onto the dolly with good padding and leaned it into position. We dragged that monster up the stairs and finally got it into place. I never thought the 2 of us were going to be able to do it alone, but with some determination we did. YAY!!!! I unpacked the rest of the parts and put the KK together. Oh what fun!!! Better than XMass morning. Without hesitation I filled the basket with Coco char and started my KK up for it's initial burn in... Mind you I had already made pizza crust this morning and was ready to make use of the burn in. It took about 30 minutes to get the KK up to temp, but it cooked the pizza perfectly... The only downside was that it had a slight off flavor, I think from the burn in. Otherwise, the pizzas were perfect. Here are the pics of the arrival of my KK and it sitting comfortably at it's destination.
  3. Re: KK Has Landed! Congrats!!! It's beautiful and looks great poolside.
  4. Re: KK's website gone after Google's latest Algorithm To put it mildly. That sucks!!! Sorry Dennis. This seems so wrong, yet typical for big business.
  5. Re: Just ordered new KK Congrats!!!! Awaiting the arrival of my new KK also. The excitement is almost uncontainable. Please post pics can't wait to see the Vibrant Blue Pebble.
  6. Re: Soon to be a new KK owner... YAY!!! Hha... Thx, Steve. Point made and taken.
  7. Re: Soon to be a new KK owner... YAY!!! I will also look into a sign company for moving my new KK. I really am hoping that a friend/or two and I can get it up the stairs if it isn't delivered to the porch. I am planning on disassembling it and taking it up the stairs in 2 pieces. It looks like it may be a manageable weight that way. I have a feeling that the weight is only one of the issues when transporting the KK, the other is how awkward is it going to be to carry. I guess I'm in for and adventure. Wish me luck!!!
  8. Re: Soon to be a new KK owner... YAY!!! Definitely more than a few beers. I will post pics. I am hoping that because my porch is up that flight of stairs also, that the delivery people will get it to that point for me. I am fully anticipating that I have to get it up the stairs, but it would be great if they get it to the delivery destination, which is the porch. The deck is accessible from the outside around the back. Thanks for the suggestion of the crane. I will check into that option.
  9. Hello all, Just wanted to say hello and that I am very excited to join such a great community of grilling and food enthusiasts. I just recently placed an order with Dennis for a New Blue (previously known as Dark Cyan) 23" KK. I cannot wait to start the grilling and I think it should be here in time for spring in MI. If anyone has any tips, tricks or comments (obviously I have already been scouring this forum for info...) about my new adventure, I am all ears. My biggest concern is the delivery... I live in a condo that is up a flight of stairs to my main level and deck. Ugh!!! I better have some beer and friends to help it reach it's destination. Happy Grilling
