  1. It's off the pallet and in place. We felt the need to go to Big Bob Gibson's in Monroe, NC last night to celebrate-we saw our first KK at Big Bob's space at Memphis in May. Van has to work all week but we will be breaking it in this weekend. It is absolutely beautiful! I swear after sitting in the sun for 5 hours it was hot enough to cook in! LOL! We had an easy set up, lift off pallet and roll onto patio. A neighbors kid has gifted it with the name of "Turtle", not sure I like it
  2. Our KK has finally arrived! We are waiting for friends to help get it off the pallet but everything looks perfect! Excellent crating and packaging. We are waiting til it's in place to remove any attached padding or plastic
  3. A different approach We have not received our KK yet but we do have a cooker designed to cook whole hogs. We frequently do shoulders, ribs and whole chickens, as well. We only cook/smoke our boneless shoulders for 4 to 5 hours (range is 215 to 225 F degrees) BUT they then go into a well cleaned cooler for an additional 2 hours. We end up with internal temp of at least 180 degrees. Actually we do the same thing with our ribs and chickens. We end up with a very moist and flavorful end result.
  4. A whole pig We are awaiting our KK so we will be doing a whole pig, chickens and ribs on our pig cooker. We'll have all the trimmings, of course. Happy 4th!
  5. All y'all is a bit repetitive, don't "y'all" think? I love being a Southern girl but I was taught proper syntax, with a drawl, of course. We are the soon-to-be proud parents of a 23" cream pebble with dark grout. I will take lots of pictures of the arrival of our new baby. Thanks to all for the warm welcome.
  6. This can make a little or A LOT just adjust measurements. It is very refreshing. 1 1/2 lb peeled, seeded and diced cucumbers (1 1/2 lb after prep) 1 lb fresh or frozen sweet peas, blanched Dressing 1/2 cup sour cream or yogurt 1/2 cup mayonnaise (I do not recommend Miracle Whip) 1-2 TBSP vinegar, cider, balsamic, etc. 1/2 cup fresh dill weed (or 1/4 cup dried) I use a lot so adjust to taste 1/2 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp garlic powder Sea or kosher salt to taste Mix dressing ingredients, cover and chill for 1 to 48 hours, taste before tossing to see if you'd like to adjust any seasonings Prepare cucumbers. Toss with 1 TBSP kosher salt and put in a colander, let sit for 15 to 30 minutes. Quickly rinse and pat dry Toss dressing and veggies. Enjoy
  7. My husband, Van, and I took the plunge and ordered our KK last week. Hopefully we will receive it sometime in July. We will provide it a lovely home here in NC. Thanks to everyone who has posted so much wonderful information on this forum! Great recipes, tips and hints. Reece
