  1. Re: Finally Arrived!!! Congrats, Too bad customs opened the crate, I was lucky enough that they had left mine alone. Enjoy many great cooks on it, glad to see another Ontario owner added to the mix.
  2. Re: Pea Meal Bacon great info!
  3. Re: Pea Meal Bacon No they are in the supermarket pre cured, I'm really not sure of the process. It is great with eggs in the morning or on a bun for lunch. The trick is not to overcook it, that way it stays moist and tender. The above temp instructions come right on the package form the grocery. Not sure if they are very popular with you guys in the south?
  4. Re: New Autumn Nebula Thanks folks, The dog is a Bernese Mountain Dog. We have to young lads 7 and 4, she is 3 years old and runs about 90lbs. Fantastic with the kids, but very protective of our property, she likes to bark at strangers. Most loving thing you've ever seen though. She minds the heat due to her heavy coat, they need lots of exercise to keep them active. We got a Multipooo last year that is about 10lbs, the big dog could snap it like a twig, but is surprisingly gentle.
  5. Re: Pea Meal Bacon 325F for KK and cook until 165F internal temp. Takes about an hour or so.
  6. Hey, Here it sits in its happy home. The dog (Bella) has accepted it as a member of the family.
  7. New Rocket New Rocket Heres a few pics of the tasty stuff I cooked on my new KK this week. London Broils, Pea Meal Bacon (Canandian Back Bacon), Pork Butt.
  8. Re: New KK On Its Way To Peterborough Ontario Canada! Pea Meal Bacon is sweet pickled back bacon with a pea meal coating rubbed on, it comes a little bigger than a tenderloin and just as pink and juicy as all get out. I'll post a pic of whats left if the kids haven't gotten to it yet.
  9. Re: New KK On Its Way To Peterborough Ontario Canada! Her name is Bella!
  10. Re: New KK On Its Way To Peterborough Ontario Canada! Well Folks, I finally got it in place, broken in, and christened accordingly. We were thinking of smashing a bottle of champagne over it but settled for pouring a little Molson Canadian over her for good luck! My youngest (four) calls it "The Rocket". Just had it for over a week now and have cooked London Broils, Pork Back Ribs, Pea meal Bacon, 10lb Pork Butt, and Chicken Leg Quarters with BBG White Sauce. Everything turned out fantastic. Looking forward to reading some posts for new ideas. Happy Grillin Brent
  11. Re: New KK On Its Way To Peterborough Ontario Canada! Whoo Hoo!!, I received word that my KK is in Toronto and needs to clear customs ect. I hope to be picking it up this Friday! Better get to the butcher this week....think I'll try a pork butt . Thanks for the reassuring posts while I waited, just the red tape left now. I'll be sure to post picks when it arrives.
  12. Re: New KK On Its Way To Peterborough Ontario Canada! No sign of my KK on the west coast yet? I'm starting to wonder if it went down with the ship? It has been almost 8 weeks since I placed my order...hope to hear something this week!
  13. Re: New KK On Its Way To Peterborough Ontario Canada! Thanks guys, Too bad I hadn't made the decision earlier...precious grilling season days are passing whilst I wait . Hephaestus, the GE is still grinding out, large motors, nuclear fuel bundles, and a few other commodities. The KK in town will be another Ptbo. milestone.
  14. Hi All, I placed my order for my OTB Autumn Nebula about a month ago, and the suspense is killing me! I have checked with the west coast and still no sign of the ship. Hey Snowynose...how long did yours take to arrive? At any rate I can't wait to try some low and slow stuff (ribs, pork butt, ect.) I have a spot on the patio cleared off and waiting for its new tenant. Every time I fire up the gas grill it breaks my heart....already have 2 bags of Royal Oak ready to go. Using the lump will bring back childhood memories of Dad getting the old round steel BBQ fired up 2 hrs. before we threw on the burgs . This forum is going to make life easy for a novice, lots of good advice and recipes here. Glad to be a new member. Brent
