JoeNY
Does anyone have experience with either type of wood? I am fortunate to have a wood dealer here in the NYC area that is including a sample with my delivery of Wicked Good Charcoal but I have no experience cooking with either. if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears. dub
Peach is GREAT to smoke with. Mild and fruity like apple or cherry. Olive, I don't know.
U2PLT
Wood for Smoke You can use any wood from fruit. Grape vines make a great smoke for poultry and fish.
Firemonkey
I will second the peach recommendation. I have had dibs for a couple years on all the clippings from the peach tree in my next door neighbors yard. Good thing the previous owner planted it too close to the house

Good thing the previous owner planted it too close to the house hear hear-my Peach Tree Owning Neighbor also has Fig bushes! Suh-weeeet! And a pupdog that helps with my pork butt bones!! Aside from that, dogwood, hickory, red oak and maple are everywhere. About the only smoke chunks I buy are pecan and mesquite. dub(lovin my neighborhood)
