Shaky Town
Hi, everyone! I just joined this forum, and a week or so ago, I never heard of any kind of Komodo anything. I'm hooked and want one of these things really bad. I kind of settled on getting a 23" size, I can't think of a reason to go for the 19" size other than cost. I looked at the specs of the Supreme Plus vs. The Ultimate to justify the $420 price difference, but at this time, I don't know what all the terms are and what they'd mean to me during use. To my way of thinking, I may as well go all the way if you're going to blow I mean spend all that dough. What do you all think? jdbower
Welcome! The only real answer, of course, is that you should buy one of each! I have both the 19.5" and the 23", but if I could only choose one it would be the 23". The 19.5" is still a great unit and has two benefits. One is that it's a bit cheaper, the other is that it's a bit smaller if you need to keep it on a balcony or small patio. You can also see some more comparisons here, and feel free to ask me about any details I'm missing. And if you want to make a trip to Framingham I'd be happy to show you them in person. As for the model, really there's only one that's actively being made and that's the Gen II OTB. Most people think as you do, why skimp on a few hundred when you're already dropping the dough on the best grill out there. There are a few supremes in the inventory list if you want to save a bit and get a rapid shipment, the reality is that they both cook food about the same so it's just a matter of settling for the best of the best instead of the best of the best of the best. DennisLinkletter
19.5 VS 23.5 The 19.5" is about 20% smaller and 20% less expensive although side by side it does look like it's smaller than the 20%. It comes with everything it's larger sibling has except the lower grill but the invertible upper/sear grill works as the lower. I think most buyers worry about regretting not getting the larger one sometime down the road..
