As far as I know Tel-Tru are the best bi-metal thermometers built.. We ave a straightforward dual temp KK version..

The colors and description of what those temps are seem very "this is your first grill-ish"  to me.. LOL

Yeah, I don't particularly like this therm for the reasons you mentioned (No offense, stile), but I would LOVE it if the KK therm had slightly more "ZAH!" (as my friend calls things that pop). I'm working on a review of the KK where I compare the differences with other grills I've had in the past and quickly realized that NOTHING is the same on the KK as the other Kamados I've had in the past...absolutely nothing!...EXCEPT...that thermometer.

It's a good therm but it's very understated (and NOTHING about our grills are understated!!).

The thermometer is the "jewelry" of the grill. I don't think should we should bling it out but it needs something...even the KK logo would be something. (though I'd also vote for slightly bigger). I'm not just saying this as an owner. It was one of the things that struck me as a shopper because all the videos focus in on the therm at some point during the cook.

Anyways, like I said, I've been thinking about this lately so I when I saw this thread I thought I would Just add my 2 cents.

  2. I agree about what you are missing. I had the same issue. Dennis sent the proper parts to me. I also wasn't totally clear on how to install the bracket once I got the parts.  The roti bracket goes next to the grill and when it's in, the bottom bolt is blocked by one of the screws on the rotisserie mount bracket. That was the part that confused me but it helped a lot when Dennis walked me through it.

  3. I need that. Do you think my wife will notice if I sell the house to buy it? And if so, do you think she'll care or will she be all like "no, no, no. I TOTALLY get it...because I know you love your grills and I support that. We can just live in the car." ;-)

  4. I've had my KK for 6 months now and JUST now used my box of Coco char.

    Oh my gosh!

I've only used it once, but this stuff is amazing! I don't say that lightly. I've tried dozens of different types of charcoal and to be honest, I HATE most of them. Even the "good ones" are inconsistent, usually sparky, and have extra garbage or rocks in the bag about half the time.  I guess I've been oversold on all the latest "Best charcoal de jour" at the local bbq shop, but I didn't really expect this being any different.

    Man, was I wrong.

This is by far my favorite charcoal I've ever used. Not one spark, very long burns, very little carbon dust when you handle it, and the craziest thing of all is absolutely no smell whatsoever. It's weird not smelling anything when I step out on the back porch. Between that and the fact that the grill never feels hot, I kept feeling the urge to open the lid to make sure the grill was really lit. lol.

Anyways, I love this stuff but the amazon price is way too expensive for me to buy it and continue sleeping in the bed with my wife.  If anyone is around here is interested in organizing a pallet, I definitely want in for about 10 boxes.
