I haven't had my cooker very long, so I was double checking the thermometer in the lid. The little one actually runs 10-15 deg. higher than the one in the lid. (Wonder which one is correct?) Chris

Started Saturday with chicken: Sunday was a shoulder rubbed w/ Bad Bryon's Butt Rub: and after 'resting' in foil/towel for an hour or so.... And Monday was rib day w/ Jack Daniels BBQ Rub... If this keeps up, next year santa will have to bring me a by-pass or two..... (not so much a Grumpy Bastah any more either)

For guys that cook food 'slo and low', sure are impatient! tw - manual's on its way.

thanks fellas... The beer (a Peroni) helped take the edge off the whole U-haul fiasco, plus was a small celebration that I finally had a ceramic, missile shaped, heat transfer unit. And I get to work this morning and there's my owners manual in the email box. D'oh!!! My fault though, Dennis and I had been communicating with two different emails so NOW I get to read and prep for next weeks cooking. Let the games begin! Chris

As usual, nothing goes as planned.. after problems w/ the trailer and my unloading helper deciding to attend his company x-mas party instead of unloading the trailer at night.... Finally Saturday comes along and it gets put in place.... Without a thermomter, couldn't get into heavy cooking although I did cook a rack of ribs. I see what everyone means by how easy it is to lite these cookers - wow! Tried to keep it low, indirect, cooked for a little over 3 hours.. very good and JUUUUIICCCCCYYYYYYYYY again WOW! Looking forward to getting thermo so I can do a few low 'n slows.

That did it... Thank you Gentlemen. I took off the lid before moving and only adjusted it back to where it was - didn't know how far to crank down on it. We're off and running now.

Finally get 'er off the trailer and in position (poor thing had to spend the night in an open trailer) and having one minor problem already. The lid won't stay OPEN . Thoughts? Suggestions? Going to hard getting things on and off while holding lid with my head! Broom stick too short...., angle between the lid and body is too drastic for a piece of wood to hold it up.... Still trying other ideas until a solution is found... maybe a block and tackle or wenching system.. hmmmm Chris

Thanks Curly, Pleasure to be here. Having been one of the lucky few to take advantage of Dennis' sale, I guess my lurking days are over. Now that the agony of waiting has begun, I've been stealing recipes and tips from all the folks here as well as other sites. So much to learn - so much to eat!!! (Wonder what the average pants size change is from pre-KK to 1st year anniversary?) As far as learning from and trying to win influence from my habits, you're barkin' up the wrong tree!
