  1. Hi Tony B Yep - that is on the cards.
  2. Any investors want to back me - shoot me a PM. Regards, David
  3. Any cracking to the firebox (if at all) simply requires a replacement ceramic petal/insert.
  4. Perhaps this might help illustrate what I am seeking to explore and build (attached) Tandoor Fabrication STS 001.pdf
  5. I'm exploring the use of lava rock in the refractory mix with an external coating of heatproof screed. Does any one have experience of using lava rock?
  6. Hi. i have reached out to Dennis and it would be fantastic if he were able to advise. Despite my product having a firebox - it is not a Kamado BBQ or grill, it is a Tandoor - and if a Komodo Kamado owner did purchase my product it would be to supplement what they do with their Komodo grill and not compete with it. I trust that clarifies. Home_Tandoor_STS_001.pdf
  7. I want to design my outdoor cooking product so that it does not suffer the same problem with cracking (firebox or shell/body). If this means 'over-engineering' then so be it. I've heard from ceramics studios saying that if it is kiln-fired it will not crack. Then I read about cracking issues with the Big 3 and think - if they can't resolve it then how can I? It has put me off approaching any Chinese manufacturers of Kamado/ceramic grills and made me want to explore the methods and materials used in Komodo Kamados, and closer to home, the use of refractory cements and screeds from companies such as Vitcas: https://www.vitcas.com/ Here is part of a text I sent my business partner earlier today: My greatest fear is the [product] cracking. To me it is the single biggest thing that could draw negative reviews, complaints and returns and damage our reputation and credibility in the market. I swear I have nightmares about It!! I do have some ideas, but I need to test my thinking with those who know about such things, hence my reaching out to some sources recently. Regards, David
  8. Many thanks for the response. I am looking to put a model into production and wanted to get a sense of the difference between ceramic and refractory cement and why I should go for one over the other, especially given that Komodo saw fit to use refractory cement over ceramic. I would hope that my product would also present as the Bugatti of its type - and it is not a Kamado style grill. Regards,, David
