Smoke on the lid/handle area...normal?

After 3 cooks, I'm seeing some smoke film on the front/lid/handle area. Is this normal?

I thought these things were relatively air tight except for the venting system.

Hi Bob,

I'll take a some photos showing how to adjust your latch. The gaskets can get compressed during transit, especially if Customs pulls out the black foam rubber we put inside the handle. I'll walk you thru the adjustment.

But there can be leaks on some of the earlier cookers but we have a couple of ways to eliminate them..

All of the new cookers are smoke tested and adjusted in the factory before shipping.. As problems arise, we find solutions..
