I read somewhere on this forum about setting up so you can cook both dijrect and indirect method at the same time. What are some of the set ups that you all use to achieve this.

Never heard of that on one of these. Maybe someone had a half-round heat deflector and cooked indirect on one side (where the half-round heat deflector was) and direct on the side where it wasn't.

It's always direct or indirect on my cooks.

I imagine that it involves shoving the coals to one side? That's how I did it on the weber. Hey! I bet that's what the ring is for! You put the coals in the ring. Then you could cook direct on that part of the grill above the ring and indirect on the part around the ring.

Well, the most suitable setup will depend on what you are trying to cook.

You can set the large heat deflector on the charcoal basket handles, and then the area above it will be indirect. You can use the outer perimeter of the grill for direct.

Curly's suggestion of a half stone covering part of the grill can work as well. I keep a pizza stone that cracked in half for just that purpose.

If you have both an upper and lower grill, as well as the upper/sear grill, you could use the lower grill as indirect, place the stone on the main grill and use the upper/sear grill for indirect.

Dont overthink it...just go for it. :D

Re: I Feeling X-Tra Sarcastic Today

Just break your stone in half...problem solved.

Break the KK stone in half..? I'm not sure it can be done. Even a sledge hammer might loose that fight.
