Sanny
On Memorial Day, I cannot thank those who died in the service of the country. But I can say thank you to those who lived. Thank you. :* And a special thank you to those men in the China Burma India theater in WW2, in particular the 7 men of Duck Mission. Seven heroes parachuted out of a B-24 "Liberator" into a Japanese "civilian assembly center" (aka concentration camp) after VJ day and liberated a 13 year old girl named Mary. My mother. And her 2 brothers, her sister, her grandpa, and 1500 others. xo You can read Mary's story here. She later tracked down those of the seven who were still living, and the widows of those who were not. She thanked each in person. Weihsien Camp, Shandong Provence, China August 17, 1945. Liberation day. (you can see 2 of the GIs in the middle of the photo, wearing sunglasses.) And a pic of a plane flying over the camp. A drawing by one of the camp residents... Additional photos of the 7 heroes here.
