  1. I'd like to interject yet another method. I have done both reverse sear and this method and my family prefers this method. I simply use a salt, pepper, and garlic powder rub. I keep it really simple and put it on the KK at 250 indirect. Bones cut off and tied back on and with the bones side down. I leave it alone until it's right at 120 degrees internal. Remove from the KK and wrap it in two layers of HDAF. I let it sit for an hour and carve. This way works exceptionally well if you like it medium rare throughout. It's medium rare from end to end, nothing gets even close to medium. However you go, you cannot go wrong with prime rib! Merry Christmas to all, Bob
  2. These look great. When will they go on sale? Bob
  3. Dennis.....anytime! There isn't a day that goes by that I don't tell someone about my KK. As a matter of fact I have a whole bunch of jalapenos on it right now with apple chunks for smoke, rock steady at 185 degrees. They make a great chipotle. I grind them up after they are smoked and dried. Add about a half tablespoon to some ranch dressing and you have the best chipotle ranch you've ever tasted. Bob
  4. If anyone would like to see a 23" Autumn Nebula in action please drop me a line I'd be glad to demonstrate the awesomeness of the KK! Bob
  5. When I first got my KK I contacted BBQ Guru and they made me "straight" probes to replace my existing 90 degree stock probes. If I was ordering a new unit I'd ask them to make me straight probes, if I already had probes I'd just straighten them as Dennis suggests. At the time I didn't know better and ordered the straight ones. I need to go back and straighten my bent probes one of these days! Bob
  6. I've only had my KK for a little over a month and can tell you that you will love it! I have the wifi guru and it does a great job of temp control. My only issue was the 90 degree bend in the probes fitting through the port in the KK. What color KK did you order? Bob
  7. Thanks for the replies.....I'll try my hand at bending!
  8. Thanks for the help! Boy the guy at BBQ Guru got ticky with me when I said the KK was designed with a feed hole for BBQ Guru probes to slide thru. He told me in no uncertain terms that they have NO agreement with KK for feeding their probes thru a KK. I told him that was obviously the case or I never would have to have written him in the first place! I had an older CyberQ II that had probes that were nearly straight. They had maybe a 20 degree angle about an inch from the wire end. My WIFI model came with three probes that have a sweeping 90 degree curve. That's what freaked me out, the severe bend and the thought of trying to bend them straight. He gave me the whole...."this will void your probes warranty" talk. He did reiterate his offer to make me some straight probes. What to do, what to do! Bob
  9. Hello all, Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem. I was going to cook some whole chickens yesterday and had the grill up to temp with my BBQ Guru WIFI. The pit sensor slides thru the hole in the KK perfectly. Now the problem, my food probes have a 90 degree bend in them that's about 1.5" long. With that food probes will not fit thru the hole! I can run them through the hole plug end first when the grill is cold but feeding them through probe end first isn't possible. I sent BBQ Guru an email and they responded saying they don't make straight probes but they would custom make me some for $40 apiece. Am I the only one with this problem? Bob
  10. Re: Patiently Waiting In Warner Robins GA Got an email from Dennis and he let me know my thermometer was shipped separately for some reason. It'll be here Monday by the end of the day. I just pulled one out of my XL BGE for use in the meantime so no biggie. Thanks to everyone for the kind words and all the help, Bob
  11. Re: Patiently Waiting In Warner Robins GA My box had checkmarks for everything except for a thermometer. It had a horizontal dash in that box like it wasn't there and sure enough the box with the tools, tiles, and gaskets did not contain the thermometer. Bob
  12. Re: Patiently Waiting In Warner Robins GA Trying to insert a pic so everyone can see the new KK. Bob
  13. Re: Patiently Waiting In Warner Robins GA Thanks Mark. There is absolutely no comparison between my XL BGE and the KK.....unreal workmanship!
  14. Re: Patiently Waiting In Warner Robins GA It's delivered! Got here around noon today. I had plenty of help and we got it move off the drive and onto the back patio in it's final resting place. What a beautiful piece of art it is! One thing, I cannot for the life of me find the thermometer! I've searched the crate and all boxes and it's simply not there. I sent Dennis an email about not being able to find it. Am I just blind or what? Bob
  15. Re: Patiently Waiting In Warner Robins GA I awoke this morning to an email from Dennis with my shipping information. My autumn nebula left Carson last Wednesday. I'll call the shipping company when they're open and schedule the delivery. Right now they have an estimated delivery for this Wednesday but I won't be back home from Miami until late Thursday. Friday is going to be an awesome day! One more thing, you guys really love the coco charcoal? What makes it so special?? Bob
