:hello2: Hi, Tony. Good to see you!

Yeah, its been a while, let the new people carry the torch but I'm still a big fan of the KK.  Talk to Dennis every once in a while, always great to talk to him, still has the same excitement and drive that he always has had.  Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying Kooking.

As opposed to the infamous POSKs!

Mine is only 8 years old. It was one of the first Gen II 23" KKs. There are others that still post on the Forum that have been hear longer than me. Doc (mguerra) and ThreeDJ16 both pre-date me by a few years. Robert (5698k) is about the same time as me. Maybe some of the real old timers are still out there, like @Sanny @primeats @Porkchop  @Majestik @Firemonkeyand @Fetzervalve. What about the "other" Tony - @tcoliver?

I have two, one of the very first ones coming out and then one of the newer versions.  Both get used regularly and are in terrific condition.  First one is over 10 years old.  Best investment I ever made, can't even count how many awesome meals I have made and compliments I have gotten and I'm really not that good of a cook!

  3. Ha....I've still been around, just letting all the newbies enjoy posting about their experiences and sharing their excitement!  I still use my two KK's just about every weekend and very much enjoy Kooking!  Hope you all are still doing the same.

  4. Re: Atlanta (pallet share)

Well unfortunately I already have someone coming to purchase 4 boxes from me and that only leaves me 10 and I wish to keep these. Hopefully more people in this area will hear about it and you can get another pallet share together. Did a low and slow last night and this stuff rocks. Just load it, light it and sleep easy. I've got her cranked down and will check shortly how much is left. I used about half a box but I'm willing to bet there is still half the stuff left even after about 15 hours.

I agree, I assume this charcoal won't be cheap so there may not be enough wow factor to warrant the extra cost for just a great burn especially now that we have coco. I think the benefits of the coffee charcoal are going to be in the flavor, I would go with the real tasty version.

  6. Re: Indirect/Water?

You can certainly use the water method however I think you will find that with this high end ceramic grill there is no need to introduce more moisture. There will be plenty as the ceramics retain the moisture extremely well.

  7. Re: Atlanta (pallet share)

As Dennis has stated he has some great rates on shipping right now and a discounted price on the charcoal for KK owners. Dennis has quoted me a price to ship a pallet to my office in Stone Mountain and I am looking for someone to split this pallet with me. It would be roughly $390.00 for each of the two of us and we would each get 14 boxes. Thats about $27 per box. So please send me a PM or email if you are interested, thanks.

  8. Re: Of all the nerve!

Physicists' date=' thermodynamic specialists, general geniuses and savvy KK veterans, what do you think? Is the nemesis of quality service blowing hot air, or can his cooker deliver a 600 degree heat soak (from a cold start) in 20 to 30 minutes? Thanks, Anton[/quote']

I am no Physicist, thermodynamic specialist or genius however I do know of the product that you are speaking and to answer the question, there is no way in hell this cooker could get to that temp so quickly nor could it hold it. Reason being is that it develops so many cracks and gaps and is so poorly built that the heat dissipates in minutes not hours.

  9. Re: New Blue

Always be sure to use plenty of charcoal. Its much easier to control temps with a good fuel supply. I have never heard of anyone using the side polder tube hole to install a stick thermometer I can see how this could give false temps until the ceramic has stabilized. During high temp cooks the upper dome will definitely get hotter quicker than the lower sides. Congrats on your first cook it definitely gets easier as you learn the nuances of cooking on a KK.
