  1. I would bet there is something wrong with the motor. Mine is quiet as can be and the pins stayed tight the whole time. I bought the 8" only. By the way for those of you who get one.

Left side is the push-pin type with threads, right side cradle is the one with threads and it is a little tight to slide in to the KK. The other square pin slides in to the motor, then you slide the motor on the bracket, then you slide the pin in to the hole on the KK. Failure to slide it all the way in can cause you to quit turning and you know what that means over hot coals!

  2. Sanny you are too funny! I have a local question. I need to run up to Allentown and want to make a weekend out of it. Once the weather warms up I want to take the RV, go camping, and go by the HUGE glass place that is up there. Any idea of any good camp grounds in that area?

  3. Okay I have the new E-Z Que, the KK, and everything else except .... I need the secret to make them taste like the ones you get at Sam's that are cooked! Any suggestions? I found a McCormick spice on the web that may be it but if you all have any recipe's please post!

  4. Dry Aging

What DJ is doing, in effect, is dry aging the product. You finest steak houses have employed this type of aging for eons. Cryovac has changed the way we get product but dry aging gives us some flavor back. We will buy a Prime Rib, wrap it in a "flour Sack" (clean cotton) and put in the fridge. Daily we change the sack for a clean one and do this for up to 7 days. You can loose up to 10% of the weight of the meat but the flavors are more concentrated. Sometimes you may have to trim off a small piece of dried meat but it is fun experimenting!

  5. A few questions

I just got all the stuff from Dennis for the roti. Which parts go where? I know the bracket goes on the two bolts, on the right side but how about the inserts and the rods with the "curls"? EZ- Que is about to be ordered now.

  6. Ziploc Bags

There are not food grade trash bags. People use them all the time but that is not to say it would ever pass a food inspector. You can now buy GIANT Ziploc bags (4 XL) which are the 10 gallon size at most grocery stores. Acme in my area has them. The UPC is 25700-65644 and they can hold a bunch!

  7. I have cooked in snow, ice, rain and even good weather! The best thing about these cookers is that unlike steel cookers, when these get heated up the temp does not dissipate into the air. Remember trying to cook on a gasser or steel in winter and the temp never comes up? Well you fire these bad boys up and you can low n' slo for days. Lesson learned ... get a cover (from johnny_boy) to cover it when not in use.

  8. Welcome

Welcome to the KK forum. You will be totally surprised at how well these cookers work. We look forward to seeing recipes from "down under" so we can branch out in our cooking. However Kangaroo is not available here so let's make sure the recipes are interchangeable!

    Welcome,

    John
