  1. I'm so very happy with our new kk. As has been said before, but it's so true, this is the finest made cooker in the world in my view. It's like those bands that people said "you don't really get their greatness, until you see them live". We'll, you just can't quite get all the way to imagining how awesome this cooker is until you actually lay eyes and hands on it. I couldn't wait and rushed through a spatchcocked chicken to break Her Blueness in. I put the heat deflector on the lower grid, instead of directly on the basket, then drip pan with water on the main grid and the chicken on the upper grid, 300-325.Turned out very nice. Ribs tomorrow. Planning to burn-in Monday.
  2. I very strongly agree! Gilmour's guitar on that entire album is like none of the others - a jagged razor slashing through George Orwell's and Roger Waters' vision. Here's something for you and cschaff. Madison Square Garden 4/11 and 4/12, 2016 David Gilmour
  3. I think a spatchcocked chicken. I don't think I can break it in until Friday, which is killing me, but I'm a bit overwhelmed with the various ways to use the grill levels and options of heat deflector vs. basket divider, etc., that the extra day of time to look and ponder may be useful to prepare me for that first time. In the end I will use this wonderful bit of work in every way possible, so it's just a matter of what to try first. I'll probably do ribs this weekend also, but it will be time to do the burn-in by Sunday so I can start doing steaks, pizza, and other high, fast cooks. Had to rush this little update, but I will post pictures tomorrow. I'm so happy.
  4. Her Blueness arrived this morning! Everything went well. I've got many pictures to post but I've got to wait until tonight or tomorrow afternoon... Any tips for uploading pictures here would be welcome. She is bluuuutiful!!! Thanks to all for the incredibly helpful posts here. They were a huge help in the uncrating and moving. Thank you Dennis!
  5. Awesome pictures! Happy for you it went smoothly. I'm hoping for delivery of my new 21" tomorrow, 2 days of shipping company mis-steps, a lot of time on the phone, but hopefully in the morning. We got the same color as you! Looks great.
  6. Yeah, I just recently learned about the hazards of stray bristles, and that was one reason I was interested in the alternatives out there. This thread is really helpful. There are definitely numerous folks here that use the floss tool. Do you use it as it came, or did you have to flip the head around for it to fit around the grate bars? I had seen one review on Amazon that suggested that was necessary on larger size grates like our 3/8" ones. There's enough satisfied users here that now I'm thinking of going ahead and ordering one. Plus, I'm going to take Dennis' advice, along with MacKenzie and Tekobo's, and grow, er, buy some Steel Balls...
  7. So THAT'S what Dennis was talking about when he was telling me to buy these, in his words, steel balls, available in grocery stores worldwide...(insert joke here). I thought he might have been telling me to just grow a pair as I whimpered about my fear of the dreaded burn-in! I'll take y'alls advice and throw a couple of these in the cart upon my next shop. I do always clean pre and post cook.
  8. Man, this is exactly why I wanted to post my question. I can picture exactly what you're saying about the curved wrench. "Nothing else comes close" says it all. I'll be dropping by my trusty Tru-Value hardware store later today! Thank you!
  9. Yeah, she is already catching me staring off into space alot, but she doesn't bother asking me what I'm thinking about...she knows... Monday or Tuesday will be the big day❗ I don't know if I'll be able to take my eyes off it when it's actually here. We'll have to buy more cloud storage to hold all the pictures I'll be taking...
  10. Wow, the wrench is an inventive idea... Makes obvious sense. Sounds like y'all still rely on brush to get the job done, eh?
  11. Thanks very much! Nothing like first-hand experience. Sounds like a thumbs down on that one...
  12. I've used a cast iron grate exclusively for more than a decade, so now with my new 21" Supreme coming next week, I'll need to get used to the stainless steel. As supposed to the typical SS wire brush, I was wondering about the "scrapers" on the market, and if anyone here uses them and whether you might have opinions/preferences about them. There are three on Amazon that look interesting... Sanfee grill scraper. Nice 304 steel, but only 4 1/2 inches long - hard to use on a hot grate. GrillFloss cleaning tool. Long handle unusual design SS Martin Grill Gadget long handle scraping tool. Looks good but brass head and I'm not sure the brass is okay to use with the SS. The second two seem the better options of the bunch because of the longer handles. Anyone with comments? Thank you for any thoughts!
  13. Thanks very much! I needed that. I'm certaIn the whole savage wrenching of soul to make that color decision, cost a week off my life...
  14. Hope to find out today as regards expected delivery date... Just purchased Friday night!
  15. That choice was far more difficult than I was prepared for... Man, I struggled greatly with the color choice, but with some help from the wife, I went with glossy cobalt blue. It was the color of the very first Kamodo that I ever saw a picture of. I loved three other of the colors in stock, so I was damnably perplexed, and I would have liked pebble, but there were none available, and now that I was ready, there was no way I was going to wait any longer!!! Any and all of them would have been beautiful, so I told myself there was no "wrong" choice.
  16. To the best of my recollection, it was sometime in 2005 that the name Dennis Linkletter and Komodo Kamado came into my world. Everything I read about it, Naked Whiz review, etc., reinforced my feeling that this was my dream cooker. Over time, I kept checking the website hoping for some magic half price sale or something that could get me past the price of the 23" Ultimate... I went on this way for many years, making do with two Bge cookers, and finally, the stars have aligned, and the size and price point of Dennis' newest pride, the 21" Supreme, combined for me to pull the trigger. I finally get my dream cooker. (My wife got landscaping) I am so excited. It's weird that I can't find any other buyers of this latest design on the forum - I'll try to be helpful and post some pictures when it comes and I fire it up. I've used tricks and work-arounds to cook great meals on inferior cookers for all these years, and this is exhilarating to finally get The One that I knew was my ultimate idea of Craftsmanship. Thank you, Dennis, and I Can't Wait!!! I got the charcoal basket splitter, top grid stone, and grid grippers for accessories. Maybe in future rotisserie parts, or that extremely awesome teak cabinet with granite inlay. Restrained myself from the side tables and double bottom drip pan which I would have loved, but I was struggling mightily to hold down the add-ons. Damn, I'm ready to light the first fire in my new baby. Very happy to be here, folks. Dave
