  1. Woohoo! Delivery day hopefully!
How much do you feel like a kid at christmas now lol
Enjoy the delivery and uncrating experience.

Delivery has been a bit of a nightmare actually. It showed it arrived locally yesterday and through several phone conversations was told it wasn’t in state. I asked how a tracking would show it arrived, was offloaded, and a delivery time was set to my house and kept getting BS answers.

I was supposed to get a call today and nothing. I hope tomorrow goes smother; I’m not impressed with the delivery company so far.

  2. I can't wait to see this one. That black pebble is a thing of beauty.
Gave you a follow on instagram too for the bonus pics

Thanks, I can’t wait to get her! It looks like Friday sometime. I should know by tomorrow afternoon an approx time. I followed you back on Insta.

  3. I wanted to see one in person as well, and was lucky to see a post on Instagram of a 42SBB that was about two hours away. I went to see it and was sold within minutes. I understand your feelings completely. Best of luck.

  4. Sarge, I believe your ordering the 42, the largest unit and your comfortable with that, good. I have the 23 Ultimate and fuel isn't a consideration at this size however, a 42 seems a lot more mass to heat....I was wondering how fuel played into your equation. Enjoy retirement, you only get one lick.

I’m not worried about lump use. It’s beyond efficient, as you are aware bing an owner, and has a reducer for smaller cooks. My XL BGE’s aren’t as efficient and I still snuff out what I don’t use and reuse it for the next cook. I will do the same with this. Charcoal is just part of the game. I will report after some use how it does with lump though.

Retirement is good but I’m busier now than I ever have been. I’m probably going to do some BBQ catering on the side. Another reason why I wanted the 42.

  5. Yeah now!
I remember the anticipation well - best thing since Christmas as a child!  You're gonna be blown away!

The anticipation is killing me. I really hope it gets here this next week so I can cook on it all next weekend.

  6. I’m totally impressed with the insulation this was the next morning so 9 or so hours later. With my egg the next morning it would totally cooled off or cold to the touch.

Very cool. The BGE’s will stay warm for a few hours at that high temp but that’s about it. I can’t wait until mine gets here.

  7. Congrats! She’s a beauty for sure.

I’m also a long time BGE grilled and had a custom Challenger Designs cabinet made for my XL which will soon hit the market. Awesome cabinets! I’m considering having one made for my SBB42 as well.

  8. Well there is that old saying “it’s better to have it and not need than to need it and not have it” i bought the BB32 and have never regretted it. These cookers are not only great grills but works of art. No matter witch one you buy I guarantee you will love it. Good luck on your choice and welcome to the forum. Looking forward to uncrating and cooking pictures.

    Gorgeous setup Bruce!

To the OP: Go big or go home... better to have more than not enough when grilling.

  9. Yes the 42" SBB  rotisserie cradle is massive, to give one an idea.

    It's 55 lbs of 304 Stainless!

I will get some good pics when it comes in and try to size reference them a bit. I don’t think people understand how massive it is until they see it.

Congrats! I was amazed at the size of my 32” when it arrived. Pictures just don’t do these cookers justice. I would imagine the 42” is amazing in person.

    Great color choice also!

Thanks! The 42 is impressive for sure. When you see the rotisserie cradle it is awe inspiring; absolutely massive!

  11. Terrific! Another midwest USA KK (although I was rooting for the cobalt blue)!

I could have gone either way and been happy, but after seeing that matte black 42, I knew it was screaming my name. Plus I have a thing for rock and roll, classic bbq colors, and even my ink is black; it made sense! d4ad69d867c6b127f2c889d4db261996.jpg

  12. That matte black does look good. I was preferring the cobalt blue until I saw the last 32" in matte black.

Does the cobalt blue pebble come in the black grout? The photos I've seen have a white grout.

I don’t know what the options are for grout but after extensive research I did see what appears to be a lighter color grout on an introduction pic Dennis posted of the cobalt blue pebble in 2017 (Instagram, March 2017 post), however; it appears all recent photos are black grout. The lighter color may be from flash photography as well. Dennis would be the one who would know for sure.
