  1. Charcoal cost Got this info from The Man: "The charcoal is $12.50 per 22lb box. ($27 for pallet) Residential lift gate delivery is $472 for 950 lbs / 40 boxes on a pallet To terminal or business with loading dock or forklift will be $375" Dennis --------------- I am interested in 20 boxes (more or less) and will work with others in the NY NJ CT area to bring in a 950lb shipment either to NYC or a mutually agreeable centrally located site. Flyingchef, I think you and I could do this... if you know of another person that wants to join in that would be fine with me too. Let me know how you want to proceed.
  2. pallet Share Yes I'd be on board for about 20 or so boxes. What would be the price if we got a 1000lb order? How about picking up the shipment in NY and saving on additional shipping charges? I'm ready ..... the KK is hungry
  3. I don't know beans...yet mguerra, A friend gave me (yup, my lucky day) a capresso machine today. Excellent coffee..... Question, would you roast your beans in the KK? Yes indeed, the good life: good food, good wine, spirits (and beer!), good tea and coffee, homemade lemonade, but no cigars for me!!
  4. Grilling Veggies Salamander et al, I'll certainly be experimenting with grilling of veggies. I've had nice results with my old weber kettle using corn, asparagus, mushrooms among other things. Hope to take this to a new level with the KK. Anyone with experience... please post those techniques and recipes!!
  5. Pallet Share FlyingChef, I'm expecting! (yeah, it's sorta like a baby); maybe this week... Looking for fuel and located near Middletown NY, not all that far away from you. Interested in perhaps 10-20 boxes. Storage is not so much the problem. I'm more concerned how the fuel will 'keep'. 20 boxes seems like a lot of fuel for a weekend warrior. Let me know what you think we might do... and of course if others in the area are interested let's get together!
  6. Hi and welcome! Hey Sparky, As one who ordered his KK after researching 'another ceramic cooker' I know where from your coming. I can also tell you this: the hardest part of getting a KK is the week before it arrives.... I'm waiting for mine now and find myself looking wistfully at the spot where it will be seated... contemplating the first meal I'll cook: chicken? pork loin? some nice steaks? Think I know what you'll cook first
  7. Bring on the recipes! One of my big concerns with spending the major bucks to purchase my soon to be delivered KK is that I am trying to give my heart a break and eat more fish and veggies. Love to hear what can be done with other than meat using the KK.
  8. Thanks for the warm welcome Wow, very nice to be greeted so warmly! Thanks all!! I'll post some pics when the cooker gets going. For now I'm reading about charcoal (whew!), thinking about a cover (talk to me johnnyboy), looking at stokers and guru's (who knew?) and counting down (6 days to go )......
  9. After lurking on this board for a a few weeks I have taken the leap and ordered my KK: GEN 2.2 Ultimate 23" OTB with Creme Stone shaped tile /gas option My wife thought the KK (and the K) was "beautiful" and wouldn't have a BGE which she found "UGLY" I was within a wisker of purchasing a K9 with all the trimmings but was finally persuaded by reading both forums that more users of the KK were satisfied with their purchase. My thanks to all posters and to Dennis for providing a wealth of information. I'll continue tapping your knowledge and expertise. I expect delivery next week and of course can smell the smoke already!
