  1. Oh I am so glad I read this - I thought it was necessary to create the indirect heat area - I will remove my heat deflector and find a lovely use in the garden also. Love this forum - learning so much.
  2. Thank you all for the sourdough pics and comments. As a newbie I am yet to try bread or pizza (in fact I have only cooked steak so far) - had my 32BB for a week but only four days since my first burn/cure. Can't wait to try 'everything' but very interested in bread and pizza recipes too. Thanks so much. I would dearly love to have a recipe for your sour dough breads - plain, seeded, whatever. I think they look amazing!
  3. Thanks Poochie - lol about the too young - if only!
Attempting my first cook - reverse seared steak today. Fingers crossed I don’t ruin it lol 😂

I'll bet you were surprised by how easy it is to cook on it. You'll be an expert in no time.

  4. Oh thank you - good luck with the set up at your new place.
  5. Hi there - yes so did. Oh my - I am in love with this grill! It is beautiful 🤩 I did my first burn/cure yesterday and just gave some white residue to clean off but no ‘venting’ (cracking). I am going to be looking for recipes/instructions on how to cook different cuts of meat 🥩 today. i am not finding this forum the easiest to navigate but that could be my age lol 😂 I do want to thank everyone for their replies and support. What a wonderful community. 😊 have a great day from Melbourne Australia 💖
  6. Hi Tyrus - Melbourne has approximately 5million people- compared to the US we have a tiny population in Australia.
  7. Oh Remi - how wonderful. How long have you had your KK? not sure where in Melbourne you are but I am in the outer east - Ferntree Gully.
  8. Thank you everyone- your responses are really appreciated. The bbq is where it needs to be but is facing the wrong way. I have my son coming over today to help me. I live in Melbourne Australia and I don’t think too many Australians have a Komodo Kamado. I can’t wait to get it set up and begin using it. I will do more reading and viewing of videos etc first. Thank you all for your help. here is a pic of my beast
  9. Hi there - my name is Caroline and I just received my 32” big bad. I am so excited to get started but it is still only slightly unpacked. Hubby is interstate for work and I will most likely need to complete the unpacking myself. Any tips for a woman to get it off the pallet unpacked and set up ready to use or should I get some help? Many thanks 🙏🏻
