Fun with tiles...
Hi Syzygies,
As Firemonkey mentioned, I've had to re-tile my K7 more than once. The first time most of the tiles on the dome fell off, the second time most of them on the base came off. I used a tile adhesive I found at Home Depot (can't recall the name off the top of my head)... but I noticed a huge difference between what I used and what RJ had used. RJ's adhesive or mortar, whatever it was, was brittle, sandy, and prone to detaching in large pockets. The adhesive I used was smooth like a thick glue and dried with certain amount of rubbery springiness. During the last retiling I found that everything from my first retiling was still rock solid. In fact, a few tiles I needed to remove and re-do were a real PITA to get off. So you could have retiled your kamado with some success... but ultimately it's the food that matters, as you know.
My Kamado is now a mutant hybrid-- I had to install a new spin-top (kindly provided by Dennis after RJ wouldn't help me). It is cooking better than ever now. I'll get a KK someday, but right now, to be honest, I am being well served.
If you're at all interested, here is the link to my re-build:

Yah...
The Pucks are no good. Must be sharpened prior to each use. Still, sadly, better than anything else I have. Alas.

I did a whole ham for Christmas using some Cuban spices.
Pix or it didn't happen.

Haha...
...that is the total number of posts she has made. She is apparently quite a chatterbox.

Aight...
Where are everyone else' pix?

Couldn't resist...
...another prime rib. Once again.... melt-in-your-mouth succulent.
We had a somewhat unconventional meal. In addition to the rib roast, we had tomatoes with soft mozzarella, butternut squash, baked potatoes, and fresh steamed collard greens? How fresh? On the way over Xmas eve my parents stopped by a local farmer's house and he went out back and pulled a couple collards out of the ground for us. Best ever.

Do you have a tofu avoidance plan in effect for this holiday? I've got my eye on a large standing rib roast, myself.
Enjoy your Tofurkey!
Have a great holiday, everyone.

Thank you!
I hope can find some time this weekend to pull this off. Very nice writeup, thanks!

If you wouldn't mind, Syzygies...
...could you post the gumbo recipe? Pretty please?

Oh my! I see what you mean. Um... didn't mean THAT!
Oh RIGHT!
Coments.. Questions.

Beautiful floors. I may need some flooring after we relocate back to San Diego this summer. My wife will love those.
BTW - Is that Sanny's house? I noticed her dog in the last pic.
