Re: Help Needed - New KK YouTube Channel
Job done.
How about Dennis posting a video of how they are built as a promotional idea?
I am happy to come film and edit this for you, just send me the airfare and I can crash in your spare room?
Remember I suggested it first and I think I will have the lowest airfare!
Cheers

Re: Porchetta
Wow!
Fodor you have to provide more details...
It looks like loin or pork with the belly still attached?
Method? Temp, time etc...
Great job, I love porchetta, it will be one of my first cooks!

Re: Reverse Sear for Rib Eyes
Even with the funny bits it is a very informative video, especially for those of us who have a KK I build/transit.
I can start to plan out the first few cooks.
I was wondering if anyone had experience of doing steaks like in the resteraunt, that is searing them all, allowing them to stand and then baking at a lower temp to finish, adding the steaks at various intervals to achieve a variety of done ness?
Keep it up Larry, you are entertaining and informative!
Cheers

Re: KK shelter
Glad you enjoyed Melbourne. CSIRO are a client of my employees, we sell them storage system, data storage that is!
Agree on the Malt, too easy to drink!
When my KK arrives I'll post up some pic's in situ and then decide to build a shelter or not. I had the outdoor area renovated this year with a spot for the KK in mind...
Cheers

Re: KK shelter
Nice work, i need something similar here in Melbourne. We have a wet winter with no snow, so i bbq year round.
Now if the wood in the KK pallet could be cut down and reassembled into a shelter it would be really impressive!
Do you have any issue with smoke or grease buildup on the roof or walls?

Re: help me decide!
Yes I was told that Dennis installs a dual read thermometer. Rendering the cooking process beer proof.
-
Re: help me decide!
Sounds like a knitting circle but we'll have to share recipes!
I was glad to hear the "export" model comes with a Celsius thermometer. Should have guessed that it would be perfect from what I have read here in the forums.
I have been lurking for about six months but thought if I don't buy now I won't be installed and skilled up in time for summer and Christmas Day
Cheers

Re: help me decide!
Jeremy
We will be in the same shipment! Mine is a Bronze for delivery to Melbourne.
It's like they are from the same litter or something.

Re: Celsius thermometer?
Should have known...
Do they come with the beer also?

Re: Another one for Melbourne
Oh no complaint intended Dennis!
Just pining away... I understand the challenges of Ramadan, I have the same issues sometimes in my business, we have all of our support staff in KL.
Lucky it's winter here and I am not forced to grill on the gasser!
Cooked a slow roasted leg of lamb last night (7hrs) and all the time I was thinking about how much easier and better it would be...
Soon, soon...

Does the dome thermometer show Celsius as well as Fahrenheit?
I can do the conversion before the beers but not when I have started cooking
Hey Dennis is there an option? You are selling so many down under that it may be worthwhile!

OK I have ordered the Bronze Metallic and now Dennis tells me I have to wait until maybe October!
But my birthday is September 24th... oh well the wait will increase the appetite I suppose...
Spring is coming and so is my new toy

Re: Thoughts/pros/cons of adding Tapatalk support?
I would welcome it also.
I use it for other forums and it is great

Re: Hi from Melbourne
It is difficult to import charcoal. It is classified as hazardous material and so becomes expensive to import.
I buy my charcoal from a local souvlaki take away food place! They sell me a 20kg bag whenever I ask and it is all natural looking stuff like branches and roots all carbonised.
Open to suggestions and also to getting some coconut stuff if import can be arranged...

Re: Hi from Melbourne
Hey George,
just placing my order with Dennis.
Do you (or any other Aussies) want to share an order with JohnnyBoy for a cover for the new toy?
We know that winter in Melbourne can be harsh and it rains a lot in Brisbane...
cheers

Re: Hi from Melbourne
George,
I have not ordered yet - been away on holidays until yesterday.
I think the "furniture guy" will be the way to go, where are you? I am in Sandringham.
Dennis may correct me but I think I "missed the boat" for this shipment...

Re: Standing Rib Roast Cook VIDEO
Thanks - in final stages of making a purchase and it is great to see such a detailed video of how to light and use. appreciate your efforts. Look forward to the steak video.
We prefer a sear on the outside of our roasts - especially on beef. Any reason why not to sear at all? From my reading of the forum would it be possible to pull the meat a little early, crank up the temp and sear all sides?
cheers

Hi
I am about 700 yards back from the beach with houses between me and the sea.
Question is the use of a cover essential?
I tend to BBQ every week usually 2 to 3 times and I wouldn't like to have to remove a cover and remember to put it back on later each time I use the KK
Will the stainless parts rust easier if left out in the rain. Will anything else deteriorate?
Weather in Melbourne is like California similar to SFO
If cover is considered an essential item where do I find this "Jonnyboy" character
Thanks

Thanks all

Re: Lighting Looftlighter
I bought two of these, one for a friend from "Bunnings" the major HW chain store in Australia and they were about $30ea.
Works great for lighting and speeding up the process on both charcoal or wood.
Clean and safe and I have a plug right near by
Also very impressive and has a cool Euro name!

Re: Annoying the neighbours
Slow start?

Re: Annoying the neighbours
Thanks all.
Sounds like the only smoke is that which I intend to make by adding wood chunks for flavour.
-
Hi
About to purchase but my chosen location is near the fence line and my neighbours patio.
When lighting up the KK will there be a lot of smoke that may annoy them?
I intend to burn lump charcoal only
Thanks. And any pictures or video showing startup process / smoke would be great
Cheers Andrew
