leejp Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 I got a big party this Saturday to debut my OTB Supreme... I'm doing 6 racks of baby backs and a brisket on Sat for the party and will do a Butt the day before and reheat for the party (I find the butt is a little more forgiving when reheated). I've always saved my butt pre-pulled in individual foodsaver bags since they were leftovers (works great!). But is it possible to save whole and pull after reheating if I'm saving the whole butt? Recommendations?
tcoliver Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 One trick I learned was to put the pork in a ziplock bag, boil some water and drop in to heat. This way it does not dry it out. You can pull it all right after cooking this way.
Curly Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 I've never done it that way, always pulled them and sealed them with the foodsaver. In fact I have a foodsaver bag sitting on my desk here at work with pulled pork. 2 minutes in the microwave and that's as good as it was on day 1. sorry, no help.
Porkchop Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 jack- definitely pull first! i know it looks cool when you get to pull it in front of folks for their sandwiches, but reheating a whole butt is a pain and doesn't present like a butt pulled fresh off the smoker. cutting their ribs for them will be enuf to make em drool!!
Curly Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 Sick. I reckon that conversation could be percieved wrong...if you didn't know what they were talking about.
