primeats Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Ok, unless I just screwed up the easiest install ever or the folks at the BBQ Guru have mixed up the wiring for my replacement probes. The pit sensor registers the meat temp and the temp probe is showin the pit temp on the competitor base. The plug only connects one way so I don't think I messed up. I gave the folks at the Guru a note also. Thanks for your help.
johnnyboy Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Do you need to look at the other end of the wire??? In other words, if you can't swap the two plugs connecting wires/probes to the competitor (meat temp, pit temp) then can you swap the other ends the wires are poked into? Move the pit probe to the meat, and move the meat probe to the pit. I must be missing something; that's too easy.
primeats Posted November 12, 2008 Author Report Posted November 12, 2008 That would be too easy, it's an integrated plug, so I used the temp probe for as the pit probe and the caymen clip I jammed into the pork roast. Worked prety good, but when I pulled the clip out of the roast, the clip came off inside the roast. I took that slice.
Conodo12 Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Dave - have you called Bob (BBQ Bob) or Fred (Shotgun Fred) @ BBQ Guru to ask them if they just screwed up on your replacement probes? Who knows, maybe a whole batch is defective?
primeats Posted November 12, 2008 Author Report Posted November 12, 2008 Gonna call now, I did leave an email

primeats Posted November 12, 2008 Author Report Posted November 12, 2008 Ok just got off the phone with BBQ Guru, they are sending me a call tag to pick up the probes, so I better cook now while I can!
ifly61ce Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Re: Replacement probes for the BBQ Guru competitor A few years later (From your post Dave) but the pit probe for my DigiQ DX is faulty right out of the box. I decided to hook her up and see how the Guru works. The meat probe works fine and was within a degree of my Thermapen but the pit probe, when put in an ice bath would climb to 126 or so. Then when I put it in boling water it would go down in temp until i got 3 dashes. I E-mailed BBQ Guru last night but after 24 hrs I have not gotten a response.
primeats Posted March 2, 2011 Author Report Posted March 2, 2011 Re: Replacement probes for the BBQ Guru competitor I had to call them, got a response right away.
ifly61ce Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Re: Replacement probes for the BBQ Guru competitor Thanks, Dave I called today but they were closed, I'll try tomorrow.
mguerra Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Re: Replacement probes for the BBQ Guru competitor I have had a couple of bad probes from them.
ifly61ce Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Re: Replacement probes for the BBQ Guru competitor Well, I called today and after talking to Bob they are sending a new Probe right out. I did get a response from the E-mail as well, it just took about 36 hrs. Next time I will just give them a call if I need anything.
ifly61ce Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 Re: Replacement probes for the BBQ Guru competitor Just to follow up, BBQ Guru sent out a replacement prob the next day and it works great.
