txbigguy Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Well i finally got around to firing up the new KK. Man this thing is great. It was amazing how easy things were to bring up to temp and hold temp. I did some ribs and held the KK between 225-250. Here are some pics. photo (4) (Large).JPG[/attachment:381d9z08] photo (3) (Large).JPG[/attachment:381d9z08] photo (2) (Large).JPG[/attachment:381d9z08]

DennisLinkletter Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Re: First Cook Looks great.. Talk about an awesome smoke ring. Serving that plate should make any Texan proud..
johnnyboy Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Re: First Cook Awesome job dude! Looks great. What method did you use, how many hours?
txbigguy Posted December 3, 2010 Author Report Posted December 3, 2010 Re: First Cook I just rubbed them. then put them on for about 5 hours. Went with the bend test to see when they were ready. I glazed with sauce the last 30min or so.
johnnyboy Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Re: First Cook Thanks. I didn't think they looked like they had been in foil. My best results come when doing it the same way you did. Except I struggle with getting the sauce to come out looking as good as yours. Do you turn up the heat for the sauce portion, last 30 minutes? 3-2-1 foil method tends to come out a bit too fall off the bone for my preference.
txbigguy Posted December 3, 2010 Author Report Posted December 3, 2010 Re: First Cook Yea I upped to heat to around 300 or so for the last 30-45 min
johnnyboy Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Re: First Cook I'll be turning up the heat for the finish next time. Thanks. I just polished off a bowl of chicken tortilla soup; somehow didn't quite hit the spot like those ribs would have. I feel a rib cooking weekend coming on.
