Just checked it out online and they have some interesting articles. I might have to start a subscription to it.

I used to get chili pepper magazine. They started out really good, but after a few years they started getting to much into fancy high end restaurant reviews and recipes; seemed to loose sight of where they started and completely lost my interests.

Hehe, actually I was thinking the same thing, but in reverse? hehe Though it looks like there are quite a few article online, so you might not even need the subscription.

Cooks Illustrated

I just got my first ish of Cooks Illustrated. Pretty neato! Not hoity toity like Gourmand. Kinda like PBS's America's Test Kitchen, only in a magazine.

Has anyone been watching the BBQ championship on Versus (used to be OLN)? I've seen about 3 episodes, it's interesting to me, the neophite, you pros might find it a yawner.
