  1. Actually I agree that all the points made re Gaia and parallel to religious fervor are accurate.. But that does not mean that the science is wrong..

It is also true that horses and sheep are both 4 legged mammals that live in North America .. But so what. Lots of similarities but so what.

To quote an old sayings.. "even Paranoids have real enemies" :-)

  2. Another Point of View..

Not meaning to be castigated as a tree hugging carnivore may I make the following observation.

The world is coming to recognize that we are running out of fossil fuel and that the burning of it increases the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is killing the planet.. I would suggest forgoing 10 hours per KK of wasted gas which only cures a minor and in fact principally cosmetic problem.. If people know that it can happen and it is pointed out in large letters in any documentation with the cooker, then they wont be surprised

I don't think anyone wants to return the cooker because of the problem. I am sure you want to eliminate the problem but not only is this non earth friendly but adds to the cost of the product.

    Let the flames begin.. :-)

  3. I really don't see the point of the small ring.. I just fill er up , and when done close off the KK . This leaves lots of remaining charcoal for the next cook. I don't think it really saves anything.. The amount consumed over the time of the cook at a given temp and air flow is probably independent of the charcoal load.

    For what its worth

  4. I think there is a misconception here..Just because the sleeve can resist the temperature without burning.. that does not mean it will insulate the wires inside from prolonged high temperatures. For example, the tile and refractory on the KK itself can withstand the temperature but that doesn't mean that they do not transmit heat.

  5. Just look for something similar and simple , there are other brands of weed burners. Buying local may be a good idea anyway. It has to fit the thread of a small locally available propane cylinder.

  6. Re: Thanks All

Dennis often has tony (tcolover) send replacement parts. It might really be faster to send a PM to Tony

Taking all the tension off the spring is a great idea.

I have emailed Dennis and contacted UPS. I am sure as soon as the work day starts in Indonesia, I will hear from Dennis and these items will be on thier way to resolution.

It is amazing to me the amount of force it must have taken to "tear" the stainless steel hinge.

It is sitting in the driveway and drawing all kinds of interesting stares and questions from the nieghhbors.

I have been standing out in the cold with a beer playing with it....

You did read the thread from Dennis that he's outta town right? I can't remember what all he said, but he may take a little longer that normal to get back.
