  1. Re: Happy Thanksgiving Happy Thanksgiving to you to Dennis!
  2. Re: KK CoCo Char Review is posted.... Not sure what you refer to. I don't recall having ever done a chart like that. Without any reference for comparison, it wouldn't mean much anyway.
  3. Re: Review is posted.... Ah yes, a link. You see why I would never try to make a living off the website? I can't bloody remember to post a link,
  4. I just posted the review of Komodo Sustainable Coconut Charcoal. Those of you who have used it may wish to give it your rating after you read the review. Thanks! Doug
  5. Re: Freebie Coffee wood or coffee wood charcoal?
  6. Re: First Burn of KK Extruded Coconut Charcoal I found that some of RJ's crap koal was extremely fragile after a burn and snuff. Stir it and it all just fell to powder. I do a max temp burn which usually lasts about 30 minutes and then snuff. When all is cool, i stir and see what happens. The KK Sustainable holds together as well as any coconut charcoal I've seen. I'm finishing up a few bits and pieces and then I should be able to publish in the next couple of days. I don't think I'll spoil any surprises if I say that this charcoal looks like it is everything everyone is hoping for.
  7. Re: In preparation for the KK Well, jeez Dennis, if you make me a table and send it, I'd be happy to take some photos for you,
  8. Re: First Burn of KK Extruded Coconut Charcoal Maybe he will offer regular and decaf?
  9. Re: Damn you, Dennis.... I'm working on it. More work to do.....
  10. Re: The KK has landed Dennis prefers wire transfers but can accept credit cards if you insist, as I recall.
  11. Re: Damn you, Dennis.... "The wife who....." My wife dropped 2 cell phones into porta potties in 8 days. The first one was covered since she was eligible for an upgrade. The second one was full price and instigated the purchase of cell phone insurance. She also dropped the second one into a toilet shortly thereafter, but got it out in time to save it. From then on, she has been known as "The wife who...." An interesting (?) side story is that shortly after these 3 episodes, our daughter dropped a cell phone into her toilet which necessitated the maintenance man having to come to extricate it from the toilet. Somehow, Susie escaped becoming "The daughter who....". Now, The Wife Who.... may also tack on a storm door closer to her list of conquests. Back on my feet, I went out this morning to discover that the only parts she saved were the pneumatic piston and the bracket. I found one of the two screws and one of the two pins needed to reassemble the unit lying on the deck. I fear the other items fell down between the boards to a place I can't get to until I have gained a whole lot more mobility with my knee. I asked her if she had saved all the bits, like the screws, and she said, "Oh they all just fell out." The distorted hole in the aluminum door where one of the screws was ripped out would probably claim otherwise. Oh well, as I told her, she provides an endless source of amusement in my life, as I am sure, I do in hers. I love her madly and would have no one else.
  12. Re: Damn you, Dennis.... So true, Sanny. So true.
  13. Re: Damn you, Dennis.... Well, last Friday, I was certain I'd never walk again. ("Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain, Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.Walk on, walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk again.") Last Sunday, I thought ok, I might walk again someday, but it'll be like Chester on Gunsmoke. Today, I think I might walk normal again. Amazing how every single day, it got better. So, I have one chore to do before I can review the charcoal. My wife, yes, my wife thought the way to close the screen door when it is held open by the latch mechanism on the closer is to simply push it shut. Yeah, you really have to push hard, but if you push hard enough, those pesky screws will rip free from the aluminum door and it will close really really easy now. Sigh.
  14. Re: Review: 2011 KK CoCo Charcoal - it's amazing. Paswesley, unfortunately we do need good weather to conduct testing, lol!
  15. Re: BBQGuru New Product I was toying with getting one while they're cheap. ok, cheaper. I be surprised if the temp control part of it didn't work properly due to problems with rolling out wifi. The wifi bugs can be worked out later.
  16. Re: Review: 2011 KK CoCo Charcoal - it's amazing. Don't worry, if the weather is nice this weekend.....
  17. Re: BBQGuru New Product teddysurf, it appears that Rock's BBQ is switching from the non-wifi to the wifi model. If that's the case, then they probably have stopped manufacturing the non-wifi hardware and have nothing else to sell right now but the wifi hardware. Selling the wifi hardware with the promise of a future firmware update to enable the wifi makes more sense that not selling at all, or perhaps trying to juggle between making the non-wifi hardware and wifi hardware simultaneously now until the firmware update is available.
  18. Re: BBQGuru New Product They said they would be sending me one for a review when they sent me the beta version to give feedback. For now, though, the review reads, "I loved it."
  19. Re: BBQGuru New Product Gnomatic, I meant to say no "car batteries". The unit will fit into a large pocket. Instead of having a box full of fans, power cords, probes, etc. you can just keep this in a kitchen drawer and pull it out when you need it. I loved it.
  20. Re: BBQGuru New Product Yes, the PartyQ is a pit temperature only controller, but it works like a gem. No cables, no batteries. The NanoQ was a pain in the patoot to set the temp, now you have a temperature readout. I absolutely loved using it.
  21. Here I sit 2 days before knee surgery and what shows up on my doorstep? A box of charcoal. This will kill me almost as much as waiting to uncrate my new cooker back in August, lol!
  22. Re: Hall's Hill I have 1 10 pound bag for sale. Who'll give me $100,000? Do I hear $100,000? So, if you only had one bag of some really good charcoal left, how would you use it?
  23. Re: Hall's Hill Yeah, that would be a downer if he truly has closed.
  24. Re: KK extruded CoConut shell charcoal is Stateside Well, since we are discussing Dennis' extruded coconut charcoal, I assumed we were talking about extruded coconut charcoal.
  25. Re: KK extruded CoConut shell charcoal is Stateside Dennis will correct me if I'm wrong (as he is the new king of the extruded coconut charcoal) but I don't think the length of the pieces is an indication of the density. It is a reflection of the length desired by the maker. Looks like Dennis chose that length so they will fit in the box with a minimum of handling/sorting/fitting/stacking effort. I believe the maker can cut the pieces to pretty much any length they desire as they exit the extruder. Dennis?
