  1. So what does this have to do with a Komodo? I smoked the chicken and the sausage for this gumbo on Bolo. It'll simmer all day and be ready to eat tonight. As a lot of people know, gumbo is almost always better the next day or after you freeze it. But we're having company come over and it's the "soup of the day" today.

  2. I clean mine out after every cook. If it's just burgers or hot dogs, I wait 2 cooks. But never more than that. I've always heard that moisture and ash make a type of lye or some other caustic concoction that just gives me the creeps. I use the same type wisk broom that Ken uses and it works like a champ.

  3. This part of the article says it all: "You may argue that sandwich, and snack bags are more convenient, but I'm sure you don't turn to instructables for reasons to not make stuff."

More convenient, MUCH cheaper, you can see through them, so no labels needed. Reseal if you don't eat all of the snack. And so on.

  4. While cleaning the ash out of your Komodo, one step is to grab the handles of the coal basket and give it a shake or two to dislodge the ashes from the lump. During this procedure, I usually get an ash cloud that heads straight for my muzzle. This paddle, sold at Academy, does the trick by simply stirring the lump without having to bend down with your face in it. Then lift the basket out and clean out the ash your favorite way.

For around $18, you can't beat it: http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/king-kooker-36-stainless-steel-stirring-paddle?repChildCatid=140556

  5. I haven't eaten the best chicken pot pie I ever ate yet. Like Dennis, I had more than my share of the Swanson's beef and chicken pot pies. In my book, they all tied for last place. Maybe if I ate a homemade one my opinion would change. But not having eaten one for the last 47 years is fine with me. Yours does look much better than what I've ever eaten, Mac, so I'm not dissin' your pie.
