  1. Accessory-wise, I'm going to do: Basket Splitter Rotisserie spit rod Baking stone Teak side tables Sunbrella cover A mess o' Coffee Char (still have a bunch of CoCo from the first order) Notably, I'm planning to NOT order: Second charcoal basket (keep the coco char in the second basket of the 23, where I figure I'll be doing most of my low n' slows) Rotisserie basket (spit rod instead) Double bottom drip pan (having one for my 23 is sufficient) Oh...and can't take delivery until March at the earliest -- yard is a muddy/icy pit until then, and February is typically the worst weather month around here.
  2. ...and we have the spousal green light.
  3. Nothing but Pork Barrel BBQ All American Rub inside and out. Pork Barrel is a local brand (appeared on Shark Tank) and found a giant container of this Rub last year at Costco for $6 or $7. Figured I'd give it a shot and it's become the family favorite on spun chook. It's a savory rub with no sugar. I don't inject or do anything else but truss, spin it at 400° for 1 hour and 40 minutes. Perfect every time unbelievably juicy. http://www.porkbarrelbbqstore.com/collections/pork-barrel-bbq-spice-rubs
  4. This one will be a much easier sell, especially because of the positive experience with the first and the fact that half of my family and Northern VA has invited themselves to my Make Memorial Day Great Again event, and I'm now down to one 23" grill. That just won't do. This one will be an easy sell. This particular grill isn't listed on the site yet. Either on or about to be on the water. But yeah, gonna call dibs.
  5. Yesssss! The @bosco seal of approval! I'm thinking that's an incredible match. I can't tell the difference. Now I need to break the news to my wife... "Remember how I wanted two KK's and a cabinet? The good news is I don't want the cabinet anymore..."
  6. Dennis' closeup of the 32" (magically appeared in my email): I didn't save the equivalent shot of my 23, so...
  7. Second opinions requested: Do these grills look like a match to you?
  8. A couple of months ago I was thinking dark autumn nebula. Dark terra blue is definitely moving up the list.
  9. I don't need any at the moment, but saw this post. Richmond isn't too far...
  10. Would be kind of like the contrast in the last pic bosco posted.
  11. Had that thought too. One possibility is to stick with a gold themed pebble, so they'd look like siblings. The options there are harvest gold, which might be too similar to my current, and cream and gold...which would meet your go lighter idea.
  12. My 23 is olive & gold, not harvest gold, but yeah...would be a similar look for sure. oh...and thanks for the pics. That helps.
  13. Dennis has already sent me pics of the full stock. Didn't even have to ask I do like my olive & gold a lot, but not going to go there. Partly because...what if I add a 19" in the future? Then I need to match three grills. You've actually hit most of my thoughts on this: Same side tables. Probably pebble, but flexible on this. Black pebble is where I'm leaning. Harvest gold is another thought I had. Same earthy feel as my olive & gold, but with enough contrast that it stands apart. Terra blue is my third thought. I like it, but leaning toward the others. Cobolt blue is the one color that I don't think works there. I like the color, but not in my setting. So...I'm leaning toward black pebble. It would look like a black bear, which is pretty commonly spotted in the Virginia blue ridge.
  14. Partly I don't think I'd find a perfect match and the differences would annoy me. Partly I think the contrast would look good. Partly there are a lot of KK colors I like. Fun to branch out.
  15. Either. Anything is fair game. I have a couple of ideas in mind, but curious to see what others think. Might get me to look at something I hadn't considered.
  16. This post is purely about aesthetics. Starting to plan for a 32". Y'all have seen my 23" and the setting, but pictures below just in case. I've decided against a cabinet that bridges them (a la @bosco) because I really like the relatively unobstructed look of a KK in that setting. I'm also not going to try to match my olive & gold 23". Looking for ideas of colors for a 32 that complements the 23 in my setting. Thoughts?? Here's the link to the 32's in the web store: http://komodokamado.com/collections/32-big-bad-komodo-grills That patio space to the left is where the 32 will go.
  17. I'm surprised @Garvinque hasn't already made that trek. Heck, I'm almost tempted by that offer, but I already have a KK and Syracuse is a wee bit chilly and snowy this time of year.
  18. I've got people starting to invite themselves over for a Memorial Day cook. Probably time to start getting serious about that 32. Darn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. My knife is a Kurosaki Megumi Damascus clad VG-10. I like it a lot. Honestly...and I just might be considered a heretic if I ever posted this on a knife forum...I think any high quality steel is more than sufficient for all but the most snobbish knife aficionados. I picked my knife because of how it felt in my hand. The balance was different and more favorable from other gyutos I held, and I held everything in the store. If you can't actually hold it, then you're down to selecting based on secondary factors. You'll still end up with a high quality knife that's better than my old Wusthof Classic either way.
