  1. Thanks for the pic Tony. Looks nice. I'll have to get one with my next order. BTW I'm going to go ahead and fix a butt in the morning. Did a whole chicken last week. Going to brine it over night and get an early start. Probably cook it at 250 deg. I'll be sure to get some pics.
  2. Does anyone have a picture of the sunbrella ?
  3. Sense I didn't get a cover. Is there a good substitute?
  4. Holy crap! This thing is something. I didn't have a lot of time cause I had to get to work but I was able to get it off the pallet and in position. Still need to install the side tables. Being by myself I had to use the provided crowbar to take the top off of the crate. No big deal. Damn this thing is heavy! Hope the pics turned out ok. I did have a concern though. The 2 sides to the firebox were a bit shifted and while trying to adjust them I saw that they wouldn't sit down on the ledge. Maybe a 3/8 gap. I was able to get them flat with each other but not down to the ledge. Is this normal? Anyway other than that in very happy with my new KK. Can't wait to get home and get the side tables on and fiddle with it.
  5. I should be getting my KK tomorrow morning. Hopefully I'll have time to get it unpacked before work. If not as soon as I get home. Going to be an exciting day! I'll get as many pics as I can. First cook this weekend. Any ideas?
  6. Should be getting my grill tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to get it unpacked before going to work. If not as soon as I get home. Going to be an exciting day! I'll get as many pics as I can. First cook this weekend. Not sure what yet. Any suggestions?
  7. Not sure why i'm putting my input on such an old post but it happens to I have had a bubba keg grill for 6yrs. I got it at the transition to the new model and got it on sale for $299. I happened to be holding a bubba keg mug and that's the reason it caught my eye LOL. Couldn't beat it for the price and it's been a really good grill for cooks 300-800 deg. I've done some low and slow cooks but it's not easy to hold below 275 deg without snuffing the fire. As was mentioned is great for portability. I've taken it to work a couple of times and fixed Pizzas or BBQ for the guys. Again for the price it's a good little grill. I recently bought a KK 23" that I should be getting sometime next week. Like with everything I buy I read everything I could find before pulling the trigger. It's the only cooker I've read about ( and I've read about a lot of them ) that had all good rating. That's just unheard of. In conclusion although the BKG has been a great little grill for what it is it doesn't compare to the quality of a KK. I will keep my BKG for its portability because there is nothing else quite like it but I doubt it will get much use at home anymore. Can't really compare the two. They're just not the same.
  8. Thanks again for all your great suggestions and friendly comments. Tiny fish I hope your right. I'm getting a little nervous. It's been a week and still no tracking info. Hopefully everything is ok with my order. I'm sure I'll forget all about it when it's finally sitting at my doorstep.
  9. Ok thank you. Must be slow on the shipping. Was expecting to have it in a day or two.
  10. Hey guys and gals. I have a new KK coming in a couple days and I was wondering how to track the shipment? I don't see a link or shipping code in my conformation email.
  11. That sounds great. I don't have a problem taking a short ride to save some $. Let me know when your ready to place an order and we'll work something out.
  12. Im not familiar with NOVA. I live between Richmond and Williamsburg in New Kent county. I would definitely be interested in helping each other. I have a lot to order.
  13. You guys are making me wish that I got more goodies ... Oh well. I'll load up on my next order. Speaking of protecting the KK from the elements. I live in Virginia and we can get a veriety of weather. At the moment I don't have a covered area to keep it.
  14. Thanks for all the great ideas guys ! I really appreciated all the help. It's nice to know I have you guys to help me become a better cook. Goodness knows I love trying lol. When using the Dutch oven is it just laid directly on the coals and does it work as a deflector ? Also the double bottom drip pan. What makes it better that the drip pan that comes with it. Sorry for all the questions but I have a feeling you guys don't mind ha ha.
  15. The drip pan and pizza stone sound like something that would come in handy. I'm pretty sure that its too late to add to my order now though. Thx for the great suggestions. I'm sure I'll get some more goodies after the shock of this order wears off.
  16. I didn't get much. Just the side tables 4 boxes of char and the grate grabbers. Kind of wish I would have gotten the rotisserie. Do you have any suggestions ?
  17. That sounds great !! I'll do that. I'm looking forward to learning everything I can from you guys.
  18. Hey to my new KK friends ! A little bit about myself. Ive been cooking on a Bubba Keg kamado style cooker for about 5 yrs and have fallen in love with that style of cooking. I've really enjoyed my Keg and although it does a lot of things well ( for the price ) it has a hard time with low and slow. I started looking at different types of grills and saw the KK early on in my search and just kind of smerked and thought ... Yeah Right !! Being a 26 yr machinist I have always appreciated good workmanship but it seemed a bit much. I started to look at pellet smokers and was ready to pull the trigger on either a yoder or mak 2 but the more I looked into it I just couldn't stop thinking about how much I've enjoyed my kamado even with all its shortcomings. So I started looking at the bge but noticed that in all the pics I'd seen and at the store they just weren't built very well. I was about to give it up and saw a video comparing the bge to the KK. It was like a light bulb went off . It was like looking at a diamond beside a clam LOL. After a bit of subliminal messaging and honey do lists the boss finally relented and let me order one. She even helped me pick the color. Long story short my 23 in autumn gold flake will be here sometime next week. I CANT WAIT!! Will post pics.
