braindoc
Rainy day and too much free time. Been looking at the Otto Wilde Grill Pro and Schwank Grill. Anyone with experience? https://ottogrills.com/products/the-otto-grill-pro?variant=40720247128245 https://schwankgrills.com/ Your thoughts? 5698k
What do you do with it other than high heat sear?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
braindoc
Isn’t that enough? Seriously though, that is the kind of feedback I’m hoping for. I’m also wondering about how much use it would get. I guess they’d be good for lots of things besides steak.
5698k
Is the temperature adjustable?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
braindoc
The Otto has 2 separately adjustable heating elements. The Schwank heating elements are not adjustable. You raise or lower the grate to control temp - 1500 F° at the highest level, 500 at the lowest.
5698k
I would think adjustable temps would be more versatile. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
David Chang
i still prefer to sear on a carbon steel pan and butter baste. it forms a better crust this way. a wood/gas fired pizza oven will give you similar results and make other foods as well. i have made steaks in the wfo and although it gives nice burnt bits on the surface (flavour they say), but i'm probably eating my yearly supply of carcinogens.. Dirtman62801
I have the Bo Jackson special edition Beefer which is very similar. I can’t find online so apparently they dissolved. I never could figure out why Bo Jackson. I love him but an odd spokesperson. While it does a great job, I haven’t used it in several years. I agree with David that a Pizza Oven works well for searing. I have a Ooni Karu16 and it does a great job for pizza and searing. They make a griddle/sizzler https://ooni.com/collections/cast-iron-cookware/products/ooni-dual-sided-grizzler-plate
