Fetzervalve
Whiz, Why is the Kingsford lump so shiny? The Mrs. brought home a bag recently, seems fine, just looks so different than the Royal Oak I have been using. Tanks a rot!
TheNakedWhiz
Beware. Kingsford lump sparks like crazy when you are giving it air, but what is worse, the sparking leaves behind a gritty ash that gets on everything, including the food. You can feel the grit in your mouth. Not nice.
Fetzervalve
So why the shine?? It looks like coal.
TheNakedWhiz
Like this? I don't know. In fact, I'd forgotten about this piece from the bag.
trish
perhaps it a little varnish to help it ignite..
Krusty K
Kingsford Lump Well I like it. An occasional snap or pop. No ash problem - none, at least no grit. And - depends on your alternatives. I'm not of a mind to pay more for shipping than a product costs and use what I can find and that is usually Cowboy or this. The Kingsford burns at least twice as long in my SWAG. And Whiz - I checked out your lump site for first time - very handy. Wish I had access to more of it. Not even a Whole Foods around here. Remember my volcanic eruption in my grill quote?? hehe At that time, you even had a fairly complementary review on it, guess that has changed now! But yes I do completely agree, that stuff is total crap (and the only charcoal I actually asked for a refund on). I wondered if maybe the shine was due to not being fully carbonized? Is that possible Whizzy? I also noticed it was considerably heavier than other lump too. -=Jasen=-
Curly
Sure it's not coal
ThreeDJ16
Sure it's not coal Man it looks real similar. Wish we had a pic of both together...Whizzy...got any any left from Santa last year? hehe -=Jasen=- He wouldn't think we loved him if we didn't give him crap!! Kinda like Gerard; he likes it! TheNakedWhiz
I think I had to go back and change the review once someone told me about the grit. Good thing.....

Billy
I wouldn't use the Kingsford again. There are much better alternatives and it sparks like crazy. Make sure to wear your shoes if you use Kingsford.
